As it stands, I'm reserving judgement for the time being (re. the owners).

I'm holding onto the (increasingly) faint hope that Rafa knew all about this (or at least knew about it before the statement was released), otherwise Hicks announcement was ridiculous.

Im fairly certain Rafa would have been told by G&Hs about the approach for Klinsmann several days ago when reports started to break.

What concerns me though is whether they discussed going public with the story with him or not. If they went to the Echo without discussing it with Rafa first then I think reports of him being furious would be more than accurate. It would be another clear attempt to undermine his position.

If it was discussed openly with Rafa several days ago and collectively they decided it best to get the story out officially then I think this will all blow over for now.

Mate, the fact is they know nothing about the sport, and nothing about our club. Hicks has basically admitted as much in the last few days. Hicks said himself he came into the deal at a late stage and couldn't pretend to knwo much about the club. He then said both he and Gillett sought Klinsmann out to find out more about European and English football. Hicks has compared us to Weetabix FFS. Put that down to their nationality or whatever, it makes no difference IMO. But this is the principle reason I don't trust them. The fact that they are American is incidental.

I don't think a US manager would still have our support, unless we were playing out of this world football and were genuinely unlucky with results/injuries

Don't agree. If that same US manager had acheived what Rafa has he'd have our support as well. You respect the person for who he is and what he's done, irrespective of where he comes from.

Odd as the media have been very sympathetic to his plight. Some are even not giving into the hyperbole and reporting it as just communication issues and that it'll all blow over. I've seen no evidence of anyone mocking him. More directed at Hicks.
