It was well played tonight though. We couldn't have done much more. Hopefully this is the start of a good run. We'll have Villa on Monday!!!!

"Disapointed that SG was given the opportunity to support the manager and didn`t."

I think Stevie was trying to say that they hadn't played for the manager more than usual, eg, they always play for him. But it came out wrong cos Stevie's a bit thick.

Loved little Carra in his little Torres shirt.

What Stevie said was spot on. Any comment on the Rafa situation would of been bent any way they could just to keep the story going.

The club is clearly trying to move on and get the focus back on the pitch.

Interestingly Gary Mac said that lining up a backup manager as insurance is common in footie. This then means that the only mistake our American owners made was to go public. This could have been an honest mistake, brought about by cultural differences.

Perhaps my own nature of civility, honesty and belief in humanity is getting the better of me.

He wouldn't be drawn on it at all.

            I love Rafa!

            Shreeves is a ****!

There's an article in the Guardian today claiming that Gillet is absolutely furious with Hicks for going public about speaking to Klinsmann. Obviously it's hard to tell if there's anything in that, but Gillet has been far more discreet and the comments he has made have been more positive than Hicks'.

Rafa's Interview - to me that showed he wants to stay, he isn't airing the Klinsmann stuff in public despite the feeling I get that he only found out about it recently rather than back in November/December. If he had said anything about it and been drawn in you can bet old Hicks would have sent him his P45 straight away. Shame though in a way that the owners can blab about anything and Rafa's hands are now tied and he can't say anything about the owners etc or else he's history.

The game - overall played well but it was Luton. Once again it seems we get frustrated too easily when we can't score, yet when we do bang in 1 or 2 we play with a new zest and confidence and can score at will. It seems when we are at 0-0 at home we struggle in certain things:

                1. Counter attacks - we can be very good but too often we are too wasteful and too careless with the final ball or try to over pass it when a shot is there for the taking.

                2. The 'parked bus' when they have 2 banks of 4 or a 4 and a 5 defending their penalty box. We lack a player with guile and flair to pick a defence splitting pass. Our players like Alonso or Gerrard try to force a pass through and quite often the passes are too straight, too predictable and are thus easy to read and cut out. A Bergkamp player would be great to have or even someone with Gascoigne like ability who was able to surge forward, beat a man with the drop of a shoulder and twist of the hips, and then pick out a clever pass and receive the return to go through on goal. I suppose Beny is the closest we have to that and I'd like to see him given a go in the 2nd striker role. It doesn't help that our movement around the penalty box is pretty wooden - if we had a number of players making different runs at the right time it could give the passer more options to aim for and make it harder for the defence to pick up. Playing at a quick tempo would definitely help, but not so quick that things become rushed.

That there is why we are not on top of the league.

Didn’t Ged once confirm that he was in for Rosicky some years ago, but the form of Danny Murphy meant there was “no need” for the little Czech?

Yep, I can almost remember it verbatim " Why would I need Tomas Rosicky when I have Danny Murphy"
