A theory I've had about Rafa and Klinsmann etc...

I'm not sure this even warrants a thread of it's own but it's something that has dawned on me and is perhaps worthy of discsussion. If not the powers that be can either nuke it or move it to a more appropriate place.

Is the reason that Klinsmann never ended up getting Rafa's job because, after his much publicised interview our owners realised that, every manger worth their salt needs to be backed in terms of transfers?

I have the impression that our owners felt that Rafa was simply asking for cash to spend hand over fist but realised, after talking to Klinsmann, that he would want the same.

Maybe they felt that it would be cheaper to keep Rafa rather than appoint someone new because he's managing his squad and a new man would want more money?

    Just speculating, like.

Well, Klinsmann still had an offer from us on the table after the little chat between Rafa and G,H &P.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Not a bad theory mate but I think as Kev said it's about a pissing contest and Hicks wanted to show Rafa who's boss but I think that he'll regret that yet.

Seems kindof obvious - they'd have to be total idiots not to realise that a new manager would need cash to put his stamp on the team... thinking about it, yeah very plausible.

Seriously though, I like to think that the fans reaction must have had some effect on their decision. Hopefully our reaction to this latest turn of events will also make them realise they cant treat our club with so little regard for what the fans feel.

A little off topic but if Hicks wants to get the fans back on side he should come out and achknoledge his mistake and demonstrate his willingness to put things right by funding the Mascherano transfer.

If you look at it from the point of view that to sack Rafa they would have to pay him six million in compo alledgedly. They would then have to pay a new manager roughly two million as a signing on fee. Then the new manager would want about sixty million, over about two seasons, on top of that to buy new players where as Rafa probably needs half that because it's his squad and probably feels that he only needs maybe two or three quality players to mount a serious challenge...was Rafa the cheaper option?

Whoever they appoint would surely want and need quite a lot of cash to put his ow stamp on the team?

Keeping Rafa means that there's no need for a pay off etc...

He seems like a genuine enough bloke but he was a diving cunt as a player, wasn't he?
