Alex Ferguson...his lack of comment on Benitez

One thing occurred to me this morning. Ferguson is usually the first to complement managers who are not really a threat to him. He is nice to those who cannot topple him (i.e. David Moyes etc) but has an horrendous relationship with those who are a genuine threat (Mourinho, wenger).

Also Ferguson is one of the first to publicly defend managers who get a rough time of who's job is under threat unreasonably as long as they are no threat to him (i.e. Fat Sam at Newcastle).

However, he never complemented Benitez nor has he commented on the unfair treatment of Benitez.

As you know I am a long term critic of Benitez and opposed his appointment in the first place.

However, the stance of Ferguson does give me pause for thought

Simple...Ferguson clearly sees benitez as a real threat to him.....in a way that he did not see Houllier.

And if Ferguson sees him as a real threat.....

Fergie will maybe have something to say on the matter at his usual friday afternoon press conference.
"Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."

Didn't you use to call Rafa the "Spanish Eric Morecambe" back in the KT days as we were tearing thru Europe on our way to winning #5?

You've basically started a thread to tell us how much stock you put in to what Fergiescum thinks and says? Didn't you get enough of being called Man U scum supporting WUM on KT?

Fergie and Rafa share alot, Rafa learnt some of his trade from Fergie during his early years and has always been grateful for this. Apparently last year they sat together when they went to a european meeting regarding coaching and management.

Thats not the point you idiot.

Whether you or anyone else likes it or not Ferguson knows football inside and knows who is a real threat to him and who is not!

He is never publicly nice to anyone who is a real threat to him.

Hence his lack of public pleasantness of support for Benitez is a very strong backhanded complement.

                        why?
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                        * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

After what you've said in the past, I have no interest in yours or Fergiescums opinions on Rafa. It's a sad day when a Liverpool fan (if that's what you are), has to take his cue from a scumbag ManU manager to show/have any appreciation for our CL winning manager. :whatever:
