    JAR Backs..

Liverpool star John Arne Riise has admitted his surprise at how Rafa Benitez is being treated by the club's American owners.

Reds co-owner Tom Hicks raised further doubts over Benitez's long-term future at Anfield by revealing earlier this week that he and George Gillett had held talks with Jurgen Klinsmann about possibly replacing the Spaniard.

Benitez's position at Liverpool has been the subject of intense speculation for the last few months after his much-publicised row with the American owners over the club's transfer policy.

Both parties held clear-the-air talks in December with Benitez claiming any problems had been resolved.

However, Hicks' revelation of the talks with Klinsmann has thrown Benitez's future back into the spotlight.

Riise is disappointed that Liverpool's owners held talks with Klinsmann about Benitez's job, and the Norwegian insists all the players are behind the former Valencia coach and are determined to help him by getting results on the pitch.

As Andy Gray said last night - we must have someone very good lined up to replace him.

Well we already have one better than him - two if you listen to AFII - at the club.

But yeah, long term, we'll need someone else. We missed the boat on Bale big time.

Well he has got some serious ass kissing to do to get a new contract.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

So who's better than JAR then at left back?(at the club)Is it the one that's injured every 2 weeks or the one who isn't a natural left back?

If you're talking about Aurelio and Arbeloa, then yeah to both.

I was actually talking about Aurelio and Insua, I forgot about Arbeloa. So make that 2 (in AFII's case, 3) players that are better than Ginge.

And Arbeloa was rubbish as LB v Boro. Clearly not happy out on the left.

For me, Riise is the best LB at the club, despite all his apparent misgivings we hardly ever concede with our back four. My only gripe is that his attcking side was one of his main points, but he has really dropped of this season in that respect. I'd like to see his shots/shots on target ratio for this season.

I would expect him to be gone n the summer, but I've been thinking that since we tried to sign Patrice Evra.
                              Forwards.......
