I remember him as a fine, fine centre half playing in a ****ing ****e team.

I was chuffed to bits when we signed him as he'd had an excellent Italia 90 and played some great stuff for Derby County who, at the time, were a pretty good side.

I think he suffers from the fact that as a centreback at a top club to some degree you can only be as good as your partner and goalie let you be. Good player may well have achieved more if he had stayed fit and was unlucky to be with us at a time when we lacked any other solid defenders.

On a related note has anyone heard anything about the allegations that have led to him being forced to quit as a manager?
