In fairness Benitez won two league titles in 4 years at Valencia, so he didn't need a 5 year plan there. While I think Hiddink and Rijkaard are good managers I don't think they're better than Rafa. Rijkaard managed Barcelona and had a huge amount of backing, Hiddink has only really won things at PSV in club football

I'm not sure that is true - for example is Wes Brown an excellent player? He is a United regular pretty much in th elast two seasons. He has improved markedly this season but I don't think he is excellent. He does fit in with their pattern of play and they do have enough of a goal threat to make up for deficiencies elsewhere in their team.

For me th elack of goal threat in our team is down to a lot of factors including th elack of funding but Arsenal given not substantially more money than we have had in recent seasons have got far more.

I think that to win the league you need to be able to put out a team with four at least decent goal threats on a regular basis. We more often than not go out with two. Partly that's down to the manager, partly it is down to the amount of cash we have had to turn around the squad.

If he can make league champions out of the likes of wes brown, darren fletcher, park ji sung, alan smith etc then i'm sure he could do the same with the pennants, kewells and riise's of this world.
I would say GK and centre backs are fine, I'm still not convinced by anyone at left back.

Centre midfield is strong but wide areas are weak, we need better wingers

Strikers Torres is class but needs a partner, IMO Crouch is ok as a back up but others are hopeless

In all honesty I would say we are 3 class players short. Special players that can make something out of nothing that can turn a game and turn 1 point into 3. The likes or Pennant, Kewell, Kuyt, Voronin are average players, if you buy average players you become average!

Yep. I reckon it is personal. They just want him out, because he called their bluff and refused to be an obedient lap dog.

I'm bumping this, because I think the article that tomas has posted is pretty cloe to the mark and highlights what a plight the club is currently in. We can't buy their bull**** when they announce their fancy new re-finance that supposedly won't be putting their pruchase debt on to the club. These clowns are trying to bleed the club dry. This is a leverage buy out pure and simple. We need to keep the pressure on them as much as possible. I reckon they won't sell to DIC, they'll look to maximise their profit when the stadium is built and expect to get an exorbitant price. And if there's no one willing then I dont think they'll blink twice about stripping us of assets (playing assets if necessary) if it will maximise their return.

We need to keep on their back., We need to hound them out. We can't let our club become a door mat for these two. It's not about the sporting glory, the bottom line for them is $$$ and nothing else. We need to carry the fight to them until we reclaim our club.

Last May after Liverpool lost a European Cup final they would have won if he had been allowed to sign the players he had identified the previous summer,
I didn't read past this bit. He's talking ****e. Rafa ****ed up his starting eleven. It had **** all to do with not being allowed to sign the players he wanted. Milan were there for the taking. Rafa made the wrong team selection. End of.
