i would never doubt that he keeps running and trying. that's why it's so hard for me to point out what i feel is a fairly obvious judgement on the lad as a player.

the thing is, take any young lad out of the kop and get him as fit as a butcher's dog and he'd keep running and trying too. we need more than that.

i can't recall much that he won, and most things he gave away, and he had a great chance in front of goal that, with his first touch, he turned into a half chance, and then wildly slashed at it to send it skying high and wide.

Sorry mate I don't see it. I'm not being deliberately unkind. I thought he was appalling again. He works hard but I'd love to sit Rafa down in a closed discreet room and discover why the lad keeps getting selected. I don't think I'm alone.

When I went to the toilet afterwards all anyone was talking about was Dirk Kuyt and how he can possibly be in the team ahead of Crouch or Babel.

I'm told that Aldo went into a similar rant once Crouch had equalised too.

I don't like pointing out that a hard working player is poor, but sadly he is, and he was poor tonight too. It may be that we have to agree to disagree on this as views on players can't really be changed via debate.

Don't get me wrong, I thought he was poor post 30mins, but before that a combination of some decent touches and not being as awful as usual made him seem better than he was.

How Babel doesn't get a start up front or failing that come on the second we need a goal is beyond me however.

He had excellent touches in the first half and it was as if his confidence had come back. He was setting up moves and linking up with Torres and Yossi. The team petered out after 25 mins in the second half and Kuyt followed the trend.

Sure we need better, but who would pay for a world class player as things stand ? Hicks ?

As a huge Kuyt critic, I agree with Fredo. He was one of our better players in the 1st half but poor in the 2nd. I genuinely felt sorry for him when he miscontrolled the Stevie pass in the 2nd half and then spunked the shot high and wide.

The second half he went downhill and it culminated in his wasting of arguably our best chance but he was by no means the worst player on the pitch tonight.

Yeah I saw it and honestly for the first time I felt sorry for Kuyt. Never have before. I think he's a very poor footballer but I just had an overwhelming feeling of sadness for the lad. I suppose it's been an emotional few days for us all.

I saw his reaction. It was similar to Hyppia's reaction a couple of weeks ago. If I was a betting man, Kuyt would be the last man picked in a 5 a side game. I really want him to be sold because things aren't going to get better for him and it would be best to revive his career elsewhere. He's clearly an amazing professional, somone who gives his all every game but we need better at LFC. Harsh but true.
