To be blunt, I'm very, very frustrated with Rafa at the moment.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostNo matter who owns the club it won't stop Rafa from making his curious selections.
So if DIC do buy us does this give Rafa another few seasons? Because let us not forget that up until a few weeks ago opinion was very much divided on Rafa.
I fully understand people getting behind Rafa at present to show the yanks they can't push us around, but this may cost us for many a season.
I could recite why, but we all watch the games, we all see the problems.
It's understandable that many people have aligned themselves on Rafa's side during this ownership/takeover nonsense. But we're taking our eye off the ball here. Rafa's made a cunt of the league again, there's just no getting away from it.
Bottom line, this is his 4th season, and he hasn’t made any progress in the league.
I think whoever owns the club come summertime has a difficult decision to make, even if Rafa leads us to another trophy, should that save him? Should he get another season?
As it stands right now, if he left in the summer I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. I just don't have any faith that he's going to change from his hard-headed negative style of management which isn't going to win this league.I hate Polanski

Whilst i still support rafa, it has to be said that this season the league campaign has been woeful. I never expected us to win the league but i did expect us to be within 10 points max. of the leaders. Instead we face a real battle to finish 4th against teams who don't have the depth of squad or the quality of our 1st eleven.
Having said all that god knows how much the behind the scenes stuff has effected things. rafa been pissed off sincethe CL final and he wouldn't be human if that hadn't effected his performance. Its clear also that the players have been effected.
I think we'd all like to see Rafa with some real cash to spend, to see if he could win us the title. To see just how good a manager he is. We can but dream.AKA Heighway No9

It must effect us a small bit to be fair. The fact that we are a world class club and have very few world class players is the obvious problem.Blame the players.
Gerrard and Carra should be posessed in training and really getting into these duds.
We are too nice these days and soft.Love Rafa but he is **** lucky to be in a job if we were asessing performance and results lately.Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful
everyone wants to know

It can't be completely without effect I'll admit BUT I think the biggest effects I can think of are players taking their foot off the gas knowing they can use the "boardroom" as an excuse.
Ultimately, in life we can only focus on stuff that can be changed if we seek to take responsibility.
I'm concerned that we're just allowing the less professional players permission to abdicate responsibility.
If we play poorly, the players have to look at themselves rather than the boardroom.
I still say that it'll be Rafa who has the impact of this rather than the players. Psychologically the dressing room should be demanding that everyone steps up and shoulders responsibility in demanding times. I fear such statements allow players to shed responsibility. Everyone has a ready made alibi and I for one don't like it.

We've had this happen a few times this season where we have dominated against good sides and not come away with the points and that is not down to managment, the team that was out last night was an attacking set up.

Not sure.Originally posted by alunevans View Posthow did this become a thread about rafa and kuyt rather than a thread about whether the players should be using the boardroom stuff as an excuse rather than taking responsibility for performances and results?
Maybe everyone just agrees with you.

I am going to repeat what I said in another thread yesterday as I am too lazy to type the same stuff again.
I honestly think problems off the pitch will manifest themselves on the pitch given time, and that is exactly what is happening. All is obviously not well at Anfield and all the talk in the buildup to the match was of takeover, Rafa's future, etc, it is gettng ridiculous and will effect concentration levels.
Much like ourselves, you can bet all this speculation is to the forefront of the players minds every day, concentration can't be good. Alot of the players that are at the club for example, are only here because of Rafa, if he leaves, they leave. Players like Stevie and Cara, are fans just like everyone on here, they will be deeply concerned about the way things are going off the pitch.
The sooner we get this fiasco sorted the better, then we can get on with concentrating about football. I enuinely felt sorry for Rafa tonight, even DJS did the man is under intennnnse pressure and he shouldn't be.
I know everyone was screaming for Crouch to come on, I was included in the gang of people calling for him to be brought on, but it does not mean that Rafa is a bad manager, it does mean however that Rafa has diferent ideas to most of us. I like to think I understand Rafa to a degree, and why he leaves Crouch out. But thats a long story and not for now.
I personally wil not hold Rafa or the team responsible for games like this tonight when there is so much turmoil and uncertanty at the club. The only way this will be resolved is for Hicks & Gillett to sell up, I genuinely see no other way. Lets hope it happens soon, so we can see the real Liverpool and not the circus tha is playing on the minds of everyone that has a passion for LFC, fans, players and coaching staff alike.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I think there is an element of truth about what you say but also the fact is you need to have faith in your leader in a situation like this. Rafa has however been undermined from above. For me like the situation a few years ago with Fergie threatening to retire that sort of uncertainty can have an adverse affect on players.Originally posted by alunevans View PostIt can't be completely without effect I'll admit BUT I think the biggest effects I can think of are players taking their foot off the gas knowing they can use the "boardroom" as an excuse.

There is an element of the excuse about it but that is the nature of human psychology and United over the years have been shown to be a very tough group - yet they suffered. When a failing is so universal it is hard to blame an individual or group of players.
That said the best thing to do is to use the media feeling around us to create a mentality of we need to prov everyone wrong. This is as usual easier said than done."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
