    Number 19 under DIC

Question for you all.........Lets say DIC takeover, the new owners bring stability to the club, Rafa is told his job is safe and he is given a set budget of 50m per year plus the money he makes from player sales..........realistically does everyone on here think he can bring us number 19 under these circumstances and how long should he be given to do so?

(for the record I think he can but I would need to see us realistically challenge next season with a 3 year target of winning it........)

He should be given one year. If we challenge and push close, but fall short, fair enough. By all means give him another year. If he fails to progress with his frst choice targets, then it's time to look elsewhere.

But then, if we win another Euro cup you wouldn't hear me or anyone else calling for his head.

Guess it's hard to say really.

            Yes.
People bang on about rotation.Rafa doesn`t rotate SG,Carra or Torres because they are class players. With investment in the team we`d have more class players and less rotation.IMHO.I think we are genuinely 4 class players short of a PL winning team.
Remember,we`ve been beaten to so many players by our rivals because of lack of transfer money.

I think we are close. The squad is better, we've been unlucky in lots of games this year, and we've been even more unlucky that Agger has been out for so long.

But, Rafa must take some of the blame, as we should have had a back up for Heinze to give us defensive cover, and he's made some bizarre team selections at times (Voronin and Kuyt away from home? David Blunkett's dog could have told you that formation wouldn't work).

Personally, I'd give him 1 more year. I don't think we need too many additions to the squad. We need a left back who can overlap, and a partner for Torres who can work and also look like a bit of a goal threat every once in a while. Most on here would say we need an out and out winger too, but Rafa has proved that he doesn't like to play that way over the last few years. Most of all though, we need to be in contention from day 1 next year. If not, and we don't challenge until the last fortnight of the season next year, then I would suggest that after 5 seasons of never coming close for the league, we should be looking for a new manager, despite his European exploits.

I don't think DIC will buy us. I think Hicks & Gillett will refinance the loan and DIC will walk away.

What happens after that is anybodys guess but the league title is a pipe dream at present.

                        The current ones?

                        Probably not.

But I think Rafa should be doing a lot better. I've had enough of the excuses that the situation is weighing heavily on them. They can all ****ing do one. Christ we've all got problems in life, but most us don't earn 10's of thousands of pounds a week, do we?

Totally agree they should sort it out, but they don't have the same mentality of someone who was a miner in the eighties who just got on with it. Or the same mentality that someone would get from the Army. They are in a job where a stubbed toe is the be all and end all, and the slightest problem in their mind seems to **** them up.

You'd think they were born with a silver spoon shoved up their arse, not on a ****ing council estate. Need to be brought back down to earth.

But regardless of what I think, the current generation of footballers flap and moan about anything.

Rafa could do it but he needs to sort his backroom staff out too. Losing Pako wa a blow and we need to replace him properly or bring him back. If we come close next year, I'd give Rafa more time for sure.

Don't forget with him in charge we could possibly win another Champions League over next few years too.

Replacing Rafa would cause too much upheaval now and probably set us back a couple of years at least.

Next year hopefully Babel will be a key player, Agger will stay fit and maybe the likes of Insua/Nemeth/Spearing will breakthrough.

Realistically, not if Hicks and Gillett are still in charge, as long as they are about, especially Hicks, there will be rumours floating about.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
