Can we get him to sign outside of the transfer window considering he is already on loan to us or do we have to wait until the summer as usual.

I'm fairly sure we could agree a deal for him at any time, as he's currently registered with us.

Bosman style transfers can be agreed out of the transfer window for someone who is going to arrive in the summer so I'd imagine he could agree to sign for us (or someone else) before the summer

Actually thinking about it I'm not sure if our current loan deal allows he to sign for another club during his loan period, the our first option or whatever it is

My take on mascherano : he is **** hot and I would buy him. But I also accept that 17 million quid is a hell of a lot of money for what is essentially a defensive midfielder (although he is one of the best in the world at it and also there is more to his game than that but we dont use) to just throw at without a attempt at getting the price down.

There is no panic yet, unless I have been mistaken, as we taken him on loan for 18 months. This runs out at the end of the season, he can go nowhere else in this time unless we decide to let him.

After the 18 months I reckon we should buy him, but fight like **** to get the price down because it is way too much. For 17 mill you should really be getting a match-winner (i.e. a barnesey or torres typr that can win a match for you in a second).

Also, there is the possibility that the money IS there for mascherano but we are worried about the legality of such a move if the tevez and even this loan signing are anything to go by.

Mascher is easily worth 17m. Look at what Manure paid for players who are not in the same league.
