    Is It Just About ££££

In the various big Football leagues globally, are the teams at the top the richest. I hear people say it's not about money it's what you do with it, but generally the leagues i know of are dominated by the wealthier clubs in that league. Other factors obviously come into it, you could'nt hire a chimp as manager, or could you. For instance at some clubs the manager does'nt buy the players it's done by a chairman or director of football. Yes the rich clubs have bad spells ofcourse, but their wealth always brings them back to the top positions. Smaller clubs sometimes break into this elite club with good managers but never stay there long. So basically, is it just about the cash.
Is it a myth that you dont need money to be a successful club.

It's no coincidence that the four 'richest' clubs in England are also the four who usually qualify for the Champions League every season. This isn't a new phenomena, however. The richest clubs have always to a large degree 'bought' success, ourselves included. These days there is far more money in football and it is more directly linked to success.

I think if you go back to mid 90's time the top 4 was easier to break into that it is now, because for the last few years due to the Champions League money the rate at which the rich clubs are getting richer has increased
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

We have a massive problem in the sense that clubs like Villa (who haven't proved their spending power yet), Spurs and Man City can easily outspend us all of which have proven managers.

If our financial situation isn't sorted, we could end up falling behind them.

              Richest or highest turnover?

Spurs would have more behind them IMO. We however do turnover more. This is the problem with LFC, we are between a rock and a hard place. We should be competing for the title because that is what everyone expects. Our turnover though suggests we should finish 4th (Chelsea's turnover is irrelevant).

We cannot afford wage bills the likes of Chelsea or ManU, nor the Arse now they have got the new stadium. Personally I believe our fanbase need to be more realistic in their expectations until we are on a level footing.

Of course we want to win the title and challenge but our squad is not quite good enough yet. Rafa needs more time and preferrably more funds but this will not happen until the Stadium is complete unless DIC come in and they are prepared to inject capital into the squad during construction. We do not know if they will do this.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

I'm pretty sure that, since the early 90s, we've consistently had a huge wage bill which is partly why the likes of Owen, Gerrard, Macca and Fowler were able to amass the fortunes they have done.

We gave some fat new contracts away last Summer, signed Torres, Yossi and Babel on very good money I would guess and as a club have a ridiculous number of professionals on our books. It's seriously something like between 50 and 60 full-time professionals, nevermind the European youth imports at the Academy, which is a lot compared to those battling for 4th with us.
