    MOMO deal complete....

Juventus have agreed a deal to sign Momo Sissoko from Liverpool for €13m and the transfer will become official this Sunday, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

zoom - galleria The 23-year-old midfielder has been strongly associated with the Bianconeri for several weeks now, with the only question seemingly being whether he would arrive in Turin this month or in June.

Sissoko will touch down in Turin on Sunday, where he will complete a routine medical, complete the final signature, before flying back to Ghana for the African Cup of Nations, where he is representing his country Mali.

Theoretically Sissoko is already a Juventus player after an agreement was reached yesterday over both a transfer fee and wages.

Juve will pay Liverpool €13m, with €11m being paid immediately, and another €2m after a set number of league and cup appearances.

Sissoko has agreed a four-and-a-half-year contract, with an option of an extra year after this. The player will receive a healthy €2.5m a year, which works out at just under €50,000 a week.

Juventus have been desperate to sign a centre midfielder this month following the disastrous performances of Tiago Mendes and Sergio Almiron, who were signed for a combined €22m last summer.

Sissoko had the chance to join the Old Lady last summer but he rejected the transfer in favour of signing a new contract at Liverpool.

This season he has barely featured for the Merseyside-based club, and it seems he has had a change of heart over a move to Italy’s most successful club.
    Cheers

I can't see that happening mate. They'll still need to fork out (the americans) £ 7m or so.

Momo showed a lot of promise, but was never the same after that eye injury.

                      Good luck to him.

That should pave the way for the permanent deal for Mascha.Great news.(Hopefully).

I wouldn't be surprised if at the announcement of the loan and the stadium, hicks uses the signing of Mascha to soften the blow a little.

That would be demonstrating common sense but we have learnt not to expect that these days.

Liverpool move step closer to Momo Sissoko Juventus sale

                            Jan 24 2008

                            by Tony Barrett, Liverpool Echo

                            Momo Sissoko

TALKS between Liverpool and Juventus over the proposed transfer of Momo Sissoko are at an advanced stage, the ECHO can reveal.

Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri has made the Reds midfielder his number one target during the January transfer window and Sissoko is hopeful a £9m deal will be sealed in the next 72 hours.

“It’s a matter of a few days,” Sissoko told the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

“A maximum of four days and then everything will be decided. I know there has been some movement but we have to wait.

“I’ve known Ranieri since my time at Valencia and I did really well with him. I confess that wearing the Juventus shirt would be the maximum for me.”

Should the proposed go through, it will represent a tasty £3.5m profit for Liverpool who signed Sissoko for £5.5m from Valencia in 2005.

Another player heading for the Anfield exit door, albeit temporarily, is promising teenage centre back Jack Hobbs.

Championship outfit Scunthorpe United are looking to take the 19-year-old on loan until the end of this season and, having recently acquired the services of Martin Skrtel, Reds boss Rafa Benitez is keen for Hobbs to get more first team experience.

Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins has identified Hobbs as the player he wants to bring in to shore up his leaky defence which has conceded 43 league goals already this season.

Alvaro Arbeloa has been ruled out of action for three weeks with an abdominal injury picked up against Aston Villa on Monday and Andriy Voronin is anxiously awaiting the results of tests on an ankle injury sustained during training yesterday.

Meanwhile, doubts persist about Tom Hicks’ ability to deliver on his pledge to complete a £350m refinancing deal with the Royal Bank of Scotland and Wachovia.

Sources close to the deal insist it will be difficult to tie up all the loose ends today and it could be tomorrow or even Monday before it is finally concluded.

DIC remain interested in buying the club from Hicks and co-owner George Gillett and are waiting in the wings should there be any last minute hitches with refinancing.

That's 8 million as it's 11 mill euros up front the rest dependent on apperances. so I doubt we'll see the other 2

Total balance for spends on this transfer window = - 3 million. Know that's what I call backing the manager.
