The club already use special lights on the pitch so they will continue that. Also this design seems to give more light on the pitch than the more expensive version.Originally posted by Kilteragh View PostHardly too small.
Anyone know how the pitch will be maintained with what appears to be limited sunlight shining on it?

Of course it's too small. We have allegedly a waiting list of 50,000 + for season tickets. I myself am 23,000+ and have been for the past 8-10 years or so. Even at 71,000 with the increased Corporate Hosp I'm not guaranteed one. If we want to be the best on and off the pitch we need to think big. If we have the capacity to fill, then we can drop the prices (for example for kids) if we're struggling to fill it at times / certain games. If we're expanding across the globe we'll have more and more visitors who will be able to afford to come, but we need to be able to allow the locals to be able to afford it too, and attract the new local generation of kids. That's why it's too small.

Just because 50,000 are on the waiting list doesn't mean half of them are still interested or alive or could afford whatever the season tickets will cost when it is built. Most people can get tickets for a match (not every match) if they try hard enough at the moment, so while hard to get tickets they are hardly gold dust at the moment.Originally posted by Kopite_Colin View PostOf course it's too small. Add 26000 to this, plus higher ticket prices and the supply and demand may balance out. For the sake of the club I hope we sell out every game but I can't see it.You can agree with me, or you can be wrong.

Balance the increased cost v increased capacity. Even being conservative, add 20,000 from the season ticket waiting list + 5,000 Corp Hosp to the current capacity = 70,000 and that's without making matchday tickets available on an individual basis for thsose who can't afford a ST, or those that are travelling for individual matches.
I mainatin that 71,000 is still too small. 75,000 minimum, preferably 80,000+

Most people on the list will not take up the ticket, also not all will be offered as ST's. Also as a business (which the club is) a waiting list is desirable for ST's and also having a demand for tickets is useful, it would ensure they sell out all/most matches. The last thing they want to do is build something they can't fill as it would be a waste of money, reducing prices would mean reduced profit so not a great idea. Also what would be the point in spending an extra £200m on building a 100,000 seater (which the club would never get permission on) and then having to sell tickets for £15 each so as to fill it. The corporate hospitality is what will make the big money and increase money for players. Last point it is not even certain they will get planning permmision for 71,000 seats never mind more.Originally posted by Kopite_Colin View PostOf course it's too small.
