The most important thing to me at the moment is results on the pitch, the **** do I want another trophyless season so the FA Cup or CL is imperative this year. Time to put all this crap with the owners to one side and focus on supporting Rafa and the team. We can sort out the yanks at a later date!
        Dare we believe

Any talk of him going before then, or even offering him a new contract at this stage is madness. Its a work in process and we need to give it time to see how it pans out.

If he gets sacked with his record it is a disgrace. If he walks out and goes to another club he is a cunt. If he stays and we get to see how his work unfolds then I will be a happy man.

          Good post Coops.

No way should Rafa get a new contract but barring an absolute meltdown in the league his job should also be safe.

You make a very good point regarding Rafa's youth set up and what comes out of it over the next couple of years. It simply has to bare fruit if we're to be successful in the years leading up to the opening of the new stadium. I mentioned this on another thread, never before have we wanted a Mcmanaman, a Fowler or an Owen to come through the ranks like we do now. We simply must do an Arsenal or face a bleak 2-3 years until the new stadium (if it ever gets built) opens.

Tom Hicks: I want Liverpool truce

              By David Anderson 26/01/2008
Tom Hicks last night appealed to Liverpool fans to end their protests against him and coowner George Gillett after completing a £350million refinancing deal.

Hicks hopes yesterday's announcement, which means work can finally start on the club's new 70,000- seater stadium in Stanley Park, will win over their opponents on the Kop.

And the Texan also pledged his full backing for manager Rafa Benitez after he angered fans by admitting he had approached Jurgen Klinsmann. "With the refinancing process now done, the club's fans can look forward to the timely commencement of construction work on the new stadium and renew their focus on actions on the pitch," said Hicks.

Hicks claims the approval of Martin Skrtel's £6.5m signing and talks with Benitez over his summer targets proves they are behind the Spaniard.

Hicks' and Gillett's green light to Benitez to use the cash from Momo Sissoko's imminent move to Juventus to fund Javier Mascherano's permanent switch is also seen as another sign of their faith in the Reds boss.

"Since the meeting with Rafa on December 16, at which some widely-reported communications issues were discussed, Rafa has been assured that he has continuing and enthusiastic support as manager," said Hicks.

"We recently approved his transfer payment request to sign Martin Skrtel and are in discussions regarding player signings this summer.

"Rafa is under contract for two more seasons following this season. I'm solidly behind Rafa and am confident of the team's competitive prospects under his leadership."

It will be a lot of media spin from Hicks regarding players, the stadium, I want to stay, I back Rafa and so on to try and get the price up for the club.

                  IMO.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Come on guys, cut the guy some slack, he did authorise the same 6 million for skirtel as he'd authorised for Heinze. So ****ing what? it's money Rafa made for you, you ****less cunt

We can't let up on these ****ers

Answer me this Disco, do you believe Hicks when he says he is backing Rafa?
I'd agree with that mate but shouldn't we at this stage try and let the hype die down support the **** out of Rafa and the Boys and try and regain some dignity this season.
I think as fans we need to let this lie for a while, I'm not for one minute saying these guys should stay but I think a certain amount of uncertainty has been lifted and we need to finish the season strongly.
If in the summer Rafa gets the boot then I think we need to start the protests again in earnest.

But you dont just walk away. His job is to manage liverpool to the best of his ability with the tools he has got. He is not working with the best tools available now since the 2 tools took over

He is not cleaning bogs out though, or working down a mine. He has an air conditioned office, a huge **** off wage each week and a **** load of people that love him. Ok, his bosses are pricks, but have you ever worked for one that isnt? I havent.

Sorry mate, but if he walked he would be a huge big **** off cunt in my eyes.

But this is all hypothetical as I dont believe he will.
I can't agree with that Coops.

I know what you are getting at, and things become very emotive talking about the manager, but Rafa isn't in a situation like we might find ourselves in (i.e. the boss is a cunt). If your boss is a cunt it's normally because he won't give you time off or because he's a smug ****, not because he has touted your job around to some nomark without your knowledge, or undermined your authority, dragged the company (that I hope Rafa loves) through the muck in front of the world's media and your rivals and (allegedly) attempted to engineer your dismissal from your position. The owners have, in my mind, totally undermined him and captainfog will tell you that this can only go so far

Rafa is on a knife-edge all the time. The Reading game was evidence enough for me that background matters at the club are influencing his decision making and if things stay the same then I really don't think I could argue if he decided to call it a day, for what he would see as both his own sake and for the good of the club.
