'Of course I didn't take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present.
It was her birthday.
Would I have got married during the football season ?
Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'
wasnt the original HKS plan expandable? ie they start building at 61000 then once the transport infrastructure is in place they apply for a revised 71000 capacity and then just build higher/dig deeper, presumably the new (cheaper) design will be the same
Lawrenson:"Well thats 3 good chances they have had in the first 3 minutes of this half"
Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"
Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"
why the f**k they dont buy a row of houses near anfield demolish them and just extend the ground that way.At most it woulld cost 40-60 million and in doing so would keep the historic stadium open.( it has been done)
You honestly think they have not looked at that possibility and deemed the idea unworkable?.

'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

well if parry was involved it probably involved him looking around for 10 minutes then going on a trip to jamacia for 3 months coming back and saying after a close examination it wont work

but like all the greats it will burn out some day

No mate, I cant remember exactly the quotes, but I do remember the idea was best forgotten about as it was not the ideal solution, I can not remember the exact reasons why, but buildning a new stadium was the best answer in the end. Nice idea extending Anfield again. but not practical any more.

when Anfield was rebuilt in the 90's was the time for massive building I'm sure with proper thought we could have put in 3 massive stand with 3 tiers and even a bigger Kop. I hate Man u but the way Old Trafford was re worked showed us that old stadiums can be rebuilt bigger and better

rebuilding Anfield is not really an option, even tho we own most of the properties in the surrounding streets, in fact 2 streets of terraced houses have already been demolished, the problem is the time scale it just couldnt be done in a close season, they did once toy withe idea of turning the stadium thru 90 degrees but that would mean we had to find somewhere else to play for approx 2 years...... and the **** ground on the other side of the park was mentioned....God forbid

all i know is the G.A.A in ireland have an 80,000 stadium in an area very like where anfield is located and it was built by replacing the older stands that stood there bit by bit. Sure some of the higher stands aren't very good if you suffer from vertigo but overall it is a brilliant stadium and was built at 1/8 th of the cost this new stadium will cost
Croke Park had a large green area (think there was a pitch there) behind the Cusack Stand. It was easy to use that space to expand.
Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

they had the space to easily expand though, and we don't.
Believe me mate, we would be building new stands at Anfield now if it was the right option for us.
