A split on The Kop

Block 306 was kickin it in yesterday.

I was in 104 and felt myself turning my neck a few times when the Anti Owners/Liverpool chants kicked in and divided a few fans.

Had a guy in front who was a classic lets all rip the piss out of kinda fan.

Sat there with a rolled up Cup Final flag that he didn't even get out during the whole game.
(I saw the fringe)

Camera on the go from start to finish, even turning it around to picture himself durin YNWA.

We had a corner at the Kop end, he's got his Canon focused on Itandje.

Came back to his seat at 47 mins after half time with Ketchup and mustard spilling everywhere out of his Hot Dog ensuing half a row had to stand up in the process.

Kinell i could have sworn the guy was there for HEAT magazine.

The only thing that was missing was a jesters hat and a big bag of clubshop goodies.

"You got yer education from the Kop" they sang in 306.

It was obvious that this guy didn't..

I know that sounds like a complete pisstake but it was such a chalk and cheese scenario.

I'm normally in the Paddock so it was a nice change to be up there.

i'm prepared to wait because all this protesting bull**** WILL NOT make any difference to the yanks - they will not sell up. i for one want lfc to win the fa cup / champs league this year and to do that the team NEED the fans behind them - all of them. if the team can have the fans behind them and get back to winning ways then we can salvage our season.

i also think that by the summer rafa will be able to sell the players not up to scratch, recoup 20-30 million, add that to the 45 million we suppose to have for new players and buy the 5 players i think we need to compete for the league.

I personally don't think anyone will be singing anti-Yank songs at the Inter game. By the way, I'm sure you would like us to challenge for these kind of honours in the future - Leeds don't anymore.

We're all entitled to our opinions of course, but mine is that sticking your head in the sand and thinking it'll all be alright now is the wrong course of action. If you, or anyone else, can offer up a scenario where, if we were to finish 5th this season and next, we would still be OK financially then please do. TBH I can't think of one, and thats a situation the previous regime would never let us get into.

We need finance. Every club does. We need a new stadium to raise more revenue to compete with the Mancs, Arsenal and Chelsea. Can you or anybody else please tell me what else the Yanks could do? Surely nobody is naïve enough to think they would fund everything from their own money?

And how exactly does singing twee songs about the Yanks make any bloody difference?

the yanks admitted lining up jurgen as a back up option - nothing more. had rafa decided enough was enough and left us for madrid we would have been up **** creek without a paddle. any good chairman would have a back up plan, they just shouldn't have come out and said anything especially as jurgen himself denied any meeting had taken place. i dont think the yanks took too much notice of the protests. of course they knew they were going on but i for one dont beleive that they heard a couple of thousand fans singing and though "**** me we better not sack rafa".

any successful team has the backing of the fans - arsenal, man utd, chelsea, rangers, celtic - all these teams have their fans singing for 90 mins (maybe not manure but the rest do) whereas newcastle, aston villa for years have had split fans in the crowd and have won hee-haw for years. say what you want but there is a reason they call the fans the 11th man - the team need to hear the fans supporting them in a game IMO.

as you said, we are all entitlted to our opinions but i am not sticking my head in the sand. i realise the yanks have done nothing but butt-**** our club for 10 months now, but after hicks' public support of the manager and the recent re-financing deal i am going to leave the protests on the back burner. also, i have never said 5th place is acceptable financially for this year or next. and anyway, if we can back to concentrating soley on matters on the pitch we can not only secure 4th place this year but can catch chelski for 3rd as they are not a great team.

Its not the twee songs is it RS4, surely everyone here understands the need for us to stand up and be counted at times when people, in this case the americans, ride roughshod over us. Personally I think its going to be very hard, nay impossible to influence their long term decisions by protesting at Anfield however I am fully behind anyone who does so because it is their right and choice.
Also I would suggest that it would stop the americans becoming emotionally attached and maybe then they would be more likely to consider options when offered to them.

So in my opinion well organised and well turned out protests will benefit us, but only if the owners are offered a good deal.

as it was said in one of the papers (maybe the times or the guardian) it would take an astonishing offer to get rid of the yanks - we're talking 800million to buy them out for a reasonble substantial profit margin for two hard ass business men - and if DIC who are backed by the 5th (??) richest man in the world find that too steep a fee to pay then i think it's safe to say the yanks are here for a while yet - protests or not.

When will people get this into thier heads? Read the ONLY direct quote on the whole matter, from Hicks. He said they went to Klinsman for advice and information on European football, and were impressed enough to offer him a retainer in the eventuallity Rafa walked. Its nowhere near the same thing as lining someone else up to replace him while he's still in place (which goes on all the time, and HAS been done by LFC before), but hey, dont let that fact spoil your mindset.

Leave that last pint and protest BEFORE the game. Protests during the game, when we're supposed to be enjoying a game of football and supporting our team are bang out of order IMO.

When will people get it into their heads that talking to another manager for 'advice' IS a euphemism for lining up another manager. Don't be so gullible as to believe what the PR machine tells you mate - next thing you'll believe Gordon Brown when he talks about 'new' money for the NHS. If he was ONLY looking for advice why have all respected commentators read this the same way as me?
