Yes it was a penalty for them, however we should have had one for a handball against Lucas Neill earlier. Every 50/50 (and 60/40) he gave a free kick to them.

Some of the players were poor and lacking confidence but we still could have won the game easily. (Kewell and Aurelio really struggled)
This sounds like a transcript from a houllier interview in his last season at lfc the only stats that matter from tonights game are WestHam 1 goal - Liverpool 0 goals westham 3 points liverpool 0 points!!

When was the last time Lfc didn't win a game for the whole of January?? And where did they finish up that season??
I don't care as long as we finish above the blue ****e

I am holding you to that.

all this talk of players leaving if Rafa leaves.

Can anyone tell me the number of players were quoted as going to leave if Jose left?

yes 0. they know where there bread is buttered. They have contracts. If they ask for a transfer they lose all the bounes etc they might get if the club sold them with out asking them.Drogba was the nearest one but because Jose has no job , he has no where to go.

If Rafa goes, mark my words that not one player will leave because Rafa left.

It does look as though the players are not following instructions from Rafa and if we now have the mentality in our team where players are not following instructions and instead doing their on thing then **** em, they are not fit to where the shirt of this club and Rafa should show them who is boss and drop them even if that includes the so called back bone of our team. If player power is controlling the team then that is a ****ed up situation and needs to be stamped out now. I would rather see a bunch of youth team players out there given 100% than some of the prima donnas that we have out there at the minute even if that means loosing games.

If people think sacking rafa is going to be solution to the problem then think again, I would like to bet that in 3 years time we are sitting here having the same discussion. You only have to look at Utd as an example of what happens if a manager is given time (although it would have been nice) had Utd sacked Slur Alex would they be sitting where they are now? Probably not.

Back Rafa with his first choice targets instead of settling for 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice targets and allow him to build the team he wants and I believe he will bring number 19 to Anfield.

It's time to get behind Rafa and give him the support he deserves.
Aye spot on. How many people would have loved to have punched each and every one of our players in the face at half time, and screamed at them to put some ****ing effort in and play for the shirt and sweat blood for a victory. Most of us I suspect. Regardless of whats been going on in the boardroom, regardless of whatever cliques may have developed or whatever their feelings for the manager, their prime concern when they get on the pitch should be winning that game and doing the support proud. ****, they should all be banging on the managers door now asking for extra training in a bid to make this shambolic months of piss poor displays up. Or why not show us how much you really care, players, by giving back half your wages for the last month or so, for the tripe performances we've had to live with.

Don't any of you knee-jerked c*nts be chanting Rafa - Rafael, Rafa - Rafael, Rafael Benitez when we're on the ****in way to Moscow then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have a ****in BOLLOX squad, and it wouldn't make a difference if Jesus christ was in charge, we would get ****in nowhere with the ****e we have.

Ok maybe not bollox, but a few world class signings away from at least challenging and performing on a consistent level. The Arse were ****in ****E last season. We are gonna get nowhere if Rafa goes, ****in nowhere. Another new manager, (probably a ****in useless tool who hasn't managed any team at all, nevermind a club team, after all, anybody who's second choice to Klinsmann must be ****in ****E), who will be told that he needs to sell before buying, and because of that we'll be playing ****e, and then because of that, the CUNT PARADE like Nicey said, will be on his back.

For ****SAKE i dont wanna go to work tomorrow

I was rehearsing tonight and came out of rehearsals to find we'd been beaten. 7th now in the league. My first thought was what was the team sheet. I came online here to see once again Kewell and Kuyt play.

Rafa seems to be on a kamikaze mission. The only thing protecting him is the distrust people have for the owners who'd source and select his replacement.

It's a shame but when a man stubbornly perseveres with something that clearly doesn't work then he makes it inevitable that the only way one can change things is to remove him.

Everyone asking for more time, what makes you think Rafa will suddenly ditch his Kuyt/Riise mentality and employ more attacking tactics and less rotation.

I really wanted to see a Liverpool side that played like the Valencia that made us look like that Monty Python sketch with the paraplegics XI.

I'm sure that's achievable with the players we have. For ****s sake we won the CL with some real ****e. I think he is set in his ways and it won't change.

If possible I would like to see Guus Hiddink as the new manager.

Fair Dinkum what a bunch of weak nancy boys some of you lot are. This is the same fu*king squad that could have got within what 5 point of the top a handful of games ago and had us all thinking big and now the same players, the same squad, the same manager are useless, pissweak, cant play, are ****, Rafa's useless, sack him, blah blah, blah.

Win the game in hand we are 4th. Not saying there arent some problems and any club who has gone what we have in the last few weeks would be doing it hard but toughen up ffs !!

Liverpool is becoming unbearable to watch for me. It really hurts to see the team playing like ****e and falling down the league table. How do you guys forget about the pain and the disappointment follow by more disappointment??

For me, I avoid reading all reports and news for several days. Might even have to resort to avoid watching them play for a few weeks as well to recover!! :whatever:

                        How do you guys cope??

But didn't and don't even look like it at the moment.

The players and Rafa need to stand up and be counted cos it's tough times ahead.

I will be cheering on from the stands when I attend and shouting at the telly when i'm not.

but even these latest performances will be testing the patience of a lot of fans now.

I know we didnt- I think we were 1 great save from that kid Hart away from winning that particular game and they had 10 behind the ball for most of the game like most clubs do against us. The point is the players dont loose their skills and ability overnight. Its a mental thing. They have no confidence at the moment and others look like they dont seem to care. This is the same squad that went on a fantastic scoring spree, 21 goals in 5 games or something like that.

You are dead right about the players and I really hope that the two who are suppossed to bleed red Gerrard and Carragher show some backbone and step up in the next few weeks. The side needs their leadership. Gerrard looks like pouty school boy of late. If he doesnt want to stay then he can **** off to Chelsea like he almost did.

The side needs their example when they are being paid at least 80,000 pounds+ a week. Why dont they start slapping the heads of the other players together and tell them that 'You are playing for Liverpool for ****s sake do you know what that means?. If you dont then **** off".I d rather see some kids play than some of these highly paid tossers. The only players who look like they hurt and care are Kuyt, Reina and Mascher. Kuy cant buy a goal but gives 100% and doesnt sulk.

Sorry but dont agree with you. Rafa's team performed excellently for the first 4.5 months. December was average while January has seen 4 draws and a defeat. The recent few performances have been poor but sacking Rafa for it would be a stupid thing to do.

It's a shame but when a man stubbornly perseveres with something that clearly doesn't work then he makes it inevitable that the only way one can change things is to remove him.

See above. Team with Kuyt for first 4 months worked fine. So its not a question of "clearly doesnt work".
That said, I'm no fan of Kuyt either. It infuriates me during the games when he cant control the ball or the only pass he can make sucessfully is the back pass from the final third. But what people seem to forget is that whenever Crouch/Voronin have been given chances, they have done themselves no favour and everyone's thinking Kuyt/Voronin/Crouch should have started instead.
Crouch not starting might be because of what Rafa sees in training but I think that this season Rafa has tried to implement the 4-2-3-1 system and Crouch cannot be one the 3 and Torres is the 1 upfront.
I am not sure what the situation is in the dressing room as I am not privy to information that Tom, Revo etc have but if it is something that can be fixed then Rafa must stay. Remember that if performances can drop so drastically, then they can rise as well.
A lot of people take our CL success for granted and dont give him the credit he deserves because of our poor performance in the league and if he goes, it will be a real shame. Rafa made everyone in Europe stand up and take notice of Liverpool and revived it as one of the giants of European football. You just need to look at Babel's latest comments to see what I mean.
We as a team and as a club are going through rough times so the next time we sing our song, let us embrace it.
