There is no ante LFC bias in the media in my view. In fact we get treated pretty well on the whole.

Look at all the main TV channels, full of ex Reds. At the Beeb there is Hansen & Lawro. At Sky we have Jamie Redknapp for live matches and Thommo, Walshy for Soccer Saturday. Setanta have steve McManaman. channel 5 have barnesy and Colin Murray. Loads of other ex reds do media work as well. i get really annoyed when people have a go at some of these pundits for not sticking up for the Reds yet chastise Andy gray for being biased against us. So in other words every ex LFC player should be biased towards us whilst every non LFC pundit should be 100% neutral.

Why would the press be biased against LFC. When I ask that the same answer always comes, well they do it to sell papers as we are a popular club. OK then, surely The Mancs would have an even worse press as like it or not, they have at least if not more support in the UK then us, so surely if the press attacked them they'd sell even more papers.

Ante LFC agenda, don't make me laugh.

I stand corrected, he is often efusive (sp?) with praise for us, and I often see him at Anfield.

Also I like Sid Lowe's South American reports, didn't know he was a red.

        Are you kidding?

I have the impression that some of the worst sh*te we get is from our 'own'.

        Ex-players and managers alike.

Redknapp is a spineless c*nt that is fitting in quite well at Sky and being a happy lapdog for old bluesh*te baldy tw*t.

mate, you could not be more wrong if you tried.

there are, its true, many ex lfc players in the media but there is awhole raft of players from the late 70's to early 90's who HATE lfc in the media. many of these people won little or nothing because they couldnt get past lfc to do so many more come from lfc's rivals in the 1990's and beyond:andy gray, tony gale, charlie nicholas, trevor francis, graeme sharp, mickey thomas, kenny sansom, paul merson, gordon mqueen, chris kamara, lineker, gullit, ian wright, schmeichel..the list of people without a good word for lfc is endless.

as for the tabloid journalists, lfc-bashing has become a national passtime

            combination of factors:

"kicking a dog when its down" element
liverpool and scousers are not all that popular in te rest of the nation - anti-lfc stories go down well in the southeast and manchester

People like to hear their ill informed stereotypes of scousers repeated ad nauseum in the media, it makes them feel better about their bleak and frankly pointless lives.

Not sure whether this was in response to my original post but as I said I am not one that harps on about this supposed agenda - I think some of our ex players are as critical as anyone when commenting about us and if we played better football then I am sure we would get better press. I do think there are number of **** jouranlists who seem to eternally be having a pop at us such as Martin Samuel but for every one of him there is probably a Thommo who will defend us down to the ground so it swings in roundabouts

My point is recently we have seen Bacombe offer a ridiculously damning verdict of a comfortable win and the Liverpool Echo slamming a new player despite having an impressive home full league debut - these are from sources we would traditionally expect to get decent press from so just curious as to who is quick to put the boot in and & who would appear to give a balanced view of goings on. I don't want to read anyone saying we are brilliant when we clearly weren't, however credit where it's due is not too much to ask for from some

                  = agenda.

the performance has become less important than the politics to some

just not sure whether its and anti-yank agenda, an anti-rafa agenda agenda or anti-both

Exactly. Credit when it's due would be enough for me as well.

                    An example.
The manner in which the post match studio that included Redkanpp and Macca handled the CL win (the 'must win game' against Marseille was it?) was appaling.

We won big and their angle? How Rafa has fuc*ed it up all season putting Gerrard on the right and a possible rift between them.

What kind of coverage is that?!?

                      David Maddock (The Mirror)

Apparently good mates with Robbie Fowler aswell.

Close enough to know the Moores family??

                      Dunno where I heard that.

my post wasn't aimed at anyone in particular. I just feel that anyone who says anything remotely critical is seen as ante LFC. Jamie Redknapp is a prime example. He's there not to fawn all over LFC but to give an objective opinion which i feel he does. Sometimes he's critical but mostly i feel its deserved but mostly he's positive. If there's some ante LFC agenda why are so many ex players employed.

So why aren't the press jealous of Man U's current success and surely a continued attack on all things Manc would go down very well in the south.

Equally to sell papers in the north why attack you 2nd largest catchment area. Surely attacking the Cockneys would make more economic sense as both Scousers & Mancs would love that.

iread a wide variety of the papers in work and I just don't see some ante LFC agenda. Sure some people don't like the club but that applies to all the top clubs.
