nah, if the goals start to go in the results will follow. your question was about whether he can do it. I think he can. A bit of luck and a striker who doesn't prefer using the reverse of a banjo to try to motivate cows would help too.Originally posted by DJS View PostOh my sweet lord.
Serious case of missing the point here fella.

Thing is though blacky, forgetting about league challenges for a minute, our current squad should be fourth with their eyes closed. They should be beating Barnsley with their eyes closed and putting 8 goals past a team of plumbers and carpenters.Originally posted by blacky View PostI wasn't making excuses CMS. We finished 3rd the last 2 seasons behind Chelsea and United both teams that can spend 20-30 millions on world class players. We spent that amount for the very first time this season and look at the impact Torres has had. I think we need 2 or 3 more players like that to have any chance of challenging for the title. Thats a fact not an excuse. Wenger is an exception to the rule, he is reaping the benefits of Liam Brady'd youth setup at Arsenal and an awful lot of money was spent on that project over the years.
Forget the title challenge for a moment, rafa has taken the squad, £150m of money and turned us into fecking top four HOPEFULS.

Yes, and if i go and perform brilliantly in front of rafa's scouting team, i could get a contract and if i played on tuesday night, i could score 10 goals against inter and we could win and....Originally posted by steveheighwayrobbery View Postnah, if the goals start to go in the results will follow. your question was about whether he can do it. All the man can do is to set a team out to make chances, they made them but did not convert.

Now that's just sillyOriginally posted by DJS View PostEven if we had those players, Vidic would probably be playing right back, Alves left back and simao in a holding role.
He doesnt use the players he's got properly, so why would he use other players properly?

now I admit not picking you as a striker may be a mistake, it might be the egg thing. Saying that yes he's ****ed up on occasions as does every manager. Wenger got his arsed kicked yesterday too. For the same reason though?Originally posted by DJS View PostYep, that's right...he's never done anything wrong. It's never his fault."When Sir Henry broke a fast, you cursed double glazing."

Here is a silly thought, imagine having two wingers who are comfortable plyaing either side constantly switching wings. That would be a nightmare to play against. Imagine having a free scoring midfield that you would have to mark as well as the strickers, that would be a mare. That was valencia.......we are not there yet.

I agree. This season is a shambles on and off the pitch. We are playing awful football and the team looks devoid of confidence. We should be comfortable in fourth place as a bare minimum but you have to admit that the **** that's going on at boardroom level is a huge distraction and must be effecting the manager and players. As I have said I think Rafa must shoulder the blame as manager. I don't agree with someof his team selections nor his rotation policy however IF we were winning games would we be discussing these things. No we would not. I respect Rafa for having a vision and sticking to it even though I do not agree with it. I firmly believe that 2 or 3 20million pound players is all we need. There is no other short term fix to bridge the gap between us and the top 3. Given time I think the improved youth setup will pay dividends.
Dare we believe

it confuses the **** out of me what rafa thinks some times when selecting his line-up / tactics for games. how many times has he had kyut wide right, or babel wide left, or riise in his starting 11, even had carra at right back recently. EVERYBODY in the free world agrees that he should stick to his best starting 11 with the wingers as wingers, midfielders as midfielders and strikers as strikers......everybody except it seems rafa.
is it just stubborness on his part or does he really not see his faults???People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

The frustrating this is, for me anyway, is that I think we are really close. We ahve the defence, the central midfield and the striker. Now if we can improve in some positions, I genuinely believe we can challenge for the title.Originally posted by steveheighwayrobbery View Post

If Rafa is backed, and more importantly gets in a number 2, then I think we can challengeJavier Mascherano: 'I want to be settled and kill myself on the pitch so the team wins lots of games'
