But when it's 'only' barnsley and the like, the players do need to be motivated. Similar to fans, in many ways. The atmosphere for a derby or for the mancs (or a big CL game) is usually great. But check it out for Bolton at home, for example. Similar thing. I'm not saying it's right, but it's human nature.

Ideally, the players would be driven for success and that desire and hunger for success would be enough, but it isnt like that. Perhaps if they'd won the title and had experienced the glory, they'd be more self motivated to win it again. But sadly, that's not the case. The manager must play his part in getting them 'up for it' and motivated to win. Sure he SHOULDNT need to, but he does. And he cant. For that reason, if nothing else, he has to go.

like i've said before, you don't know what goes on behind the scenes, all you see is what happens on the pitch, and then make ridiculous assumptions based on it.

it's not as black and white as 'rafa can't motivate the players' there are other issues involved that have to be examined on a player by player basis. it is curious that some players are always ready to go, give 100%, while others aren't. none of us can fully understand why because none of us are close enough to the team to know. but to simplify it down to 'rafa can't motivate the players' is naive and short sighted imo.

i think some of the players have had their confidence and form shredded by his selections and policies, but i don't think it has anything to do with motivational techniques. this isn't some seminar for office managers

i hate to take another shot at you but i think it needs to be said, you're opinions strike me as the kind of stuff someone who has no experience in football would say, a lifelong armchair fan who can appreciate the game but doesn't know diddly about it

Anyone with half a brain can see what your agenda is, theres no point in starting a thread like this, posting the majority of responses yourself and then trying to play the innocent card.

Answer this, what good will come of it if the fans turn on Rafa at this moment in time? Will it stabilise the club? Will it aid the team in this years CL? Will it help us secure 4th?

The outcome of these things will all have an huge impact on the club regardless of whether Rafa is here next year or not.

If you want to help the club, why not do something constructive instead of posting all this poisonous dross?

DJS you get a lot of unfair flack on here but your posts and opinions are always detailed and backed up with facts. I'm not a member of the RCDNW brigade but at the same time I don't believe he should be sacked "yet". He frustrates the hell out of me a lot of the time. I don't belive in his rotation policy. I think he is over cautious and too defence minded at times. However I think he has a vision not too disimilar to wengers and this needs time and patience from the fans. I do not "blindly" believe in him but I think in his 4 years in charge while he has not challenged for the title he has shown us enough evidence to suggest that he might. I think it is unfair to judge him until he is on a more level playing field with the top 3. If however DIC come in and rafa is allowed sign his top targets and he still fails to mount a title challenge that lasts the full season then we should be discussing whether he is good enough for the job. I agree with you on Mourinho by the way, I think he is a winner and a great manager. Those people who think he has no "class" fell for the persona he used while managing Chelsea.

Whatever happens, no matter how badly we do, it's never rafa's fault and consequently, he should stay in the job indefinitely, and completely regardless of how badly we perform. Because, apparently, it isnt down to him to get the team performing.

And you wonder why some (a lot) say you are an arrogant prick. I responded to all your questions in your OP on the 1st page and yet you did not respond at all. Perhaps I am on your "ignore" list? If i am that would show what a pathetic individual you are.

Thing is ol' rudey, me ole pal....i KNOW what i'm thinking, i KNOW what's in my head...and if you know me remotely well, you'd know that i dont hide behind my feelings. So if i had an anti rafa agenda, i'd outwardly say so.

Fair enough then no nasty words. If I start a thread and someone posted in kind responding to the many questions I had proposed I would respond. In fact I would consider it not only prudent but good manners. Perhaps you actually believe everyone who shows support for Rafa actually believes RCDNW.

That is patently wrong IMO (and frustrating if not insulting) and shows you are not really reading these members posts properly.
