was a **** final as well as a **** result

the Arsenal last gap winner made me feel physically sick

I was in Rhodes at the time and managed to stay away from the score to watch it in the bars the next day ( not shown live back then )
Chose a quiet bar with only a couple of other (local) lads in there
It soon became obvious to them who I supported and I'll always remember the way they kept sniggering to themselves, obviously knowing the hurt I was going to suffer at the end which they stayed to watch ....... ****S !!!

      Keep this quiet

That was the worst one for me too, but to be fair to those lads in the bar, i too would've found it funny (obviously if i wasnt a red) to watch a Red who didnt know the outcome, watching the horror unfold.

I think that is the most heartbreaking moment in British football that I am aware of.

For the whole season to come down to this game, lose it on goals scored and to conceed when we did must be the most heartbreaking moment ever.

Getting beat at OT in 1999 when we were 1-0 going into the last minute was hard going but it was one game. The Arsenal game meant the whole season.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

The Wimbledon FA Cup final was pretty damn hard.

We flew to America the day before the final and only found out the result one week afterwards.

I was in compete disbelief as that side had steamrollered everybody before them that season.

The thing about that game though was i a way it was almost a relief to get the season over with. We'd all been through so much in the months before with Hillsborough, and the fixtures had been so disrupted, that it was almost surreal. After watching the man next to me break down in tears at Wembley, and losing someone I knew, somehow the hurt of the result very quickly dissipated. I was just glad to be still able to watch football. Sorry to be s glum.

The worst for me too, but I know what you me!

Last November I went with some mates to Gran Canaria on holiday to watch NI v Spain. I'm English but just went for the crack.

Anyhow, missed the England game against Croatia and the last update I got was we were 2-0 down so I wasn't expecting much.

At the end of the NI game we got the taxi back from the stadium and went back to the resort where a mate of mine was staying as opposed to my own. We set of for a bar but the only one close that was open was a bloody German bar.......

Anyhow, as luck would have it, the highlights of the nights footy were on so I settled down to moan about how ****e England were.

England duly went 2-0 down as I had been told, and any thoughts I'd harboured of people winding me up quickly died down and I accepted the inevitable, England were out. I was gutted.

But I carried on watching, and would you believe it, something magical started to happen! England started to actually pass the ball properly!

Penalty to England. Lampard steps up........ And, GOAL! GET THE **** IN! I shout at the top of my voice, whilst simultaneously scowling at all the germans who had spun round to see what the commotion was all about.

My hopes start to raise......... Whilst the Germans just sit there sniggering to themselves..............

But what do I care what the Germans think? It's now 2-2! YEEEEESSSSSSSS I shout, along with a chorous of "We're all going on a European tour" I then sit back to enjoy the rest of the highlights as England pour forward for a winner. Qualification is in the bag I say to my NI mates, shame about the british and Irish tournament, I say (Apparentley NI were the current holders, but what did I care?)

The Germans continue to find amusement in my behaviour. And it soon becomes clear s to why.

3-2. To Croatia. Oh ****ing dear. I slump in my chair - cue the whole bar laughing and cat calling, the Germans, the two random Spanish couples, and three NI mates of mine.

And the final whistle blows, to much more frenzied delight from the bar. MY NI mates still swear they didn't know the end result, but the bloody Germans did.

Never again! What a **** I must have looked!
                            Forwards.......

                              Who cares about England?

'We aren't English, we're Scouse' sort of thing applies here

I do obviously, but then, unlike some of my family I'm not scouse. In fact the only time I cried in relation to sport was when England lost on penalties to Germany in Italia 90.

No doubt I would have had I cared about football that much when Arsenal beat us to the title, and I remember coming home from school and my dad telling me Kenny had resigned, but I didn't cry. Was to old for that by the time Liverpool started to piss me off.
