    AFC Liverpool Now Taking Members

    Hi all

You can now become a founder member of AFC Liverpool.

Minimum membership is £10 but we're asking £35 or more if you can.

Everything is now in place for this club to be playing in the forthcoming season.

All we need now is money to make us viable.

First wave get a founder members certificate.

Do you have an idea of the member base as it stands?

Only just launched in terms of paying memberships. This in fact is our first day without any technical problems.

We put the pay system online on Saturday afternoon but there was a problem with Internet Explorer users (bloody Microsoft) which meant that when they tried to pay it failed.

I fixed that late last night, so today is day 1.

Everything is now in place to make this happen.

All we need is support now. And to get the word out.

Being overseas, would there be any sort of update on the website about results etc? Would like to throw in a bit, but would like to be able to follow the progress of the club as well...

Is that possible in any way?

Yes definitely. Once the club is playing competitive matches there will be full match reports, scores, league tables and other information of interest updated regularly.

We also have plans in place for a full youth system setup so you'll be able to check on the results for AFC Liverpool's various youth teams too.

I would only ask, Why Now, why not at any other time in our history. Will people now be saying..a la the scum...That this is the real team with the real fans. Only asking. Nothing against the idea or the urge for some fans to be involved, just wondered why now.

Football's not just changed since H&G, fan's have been getting shafted for years. Good luck anyway.

Game 39 was more of a trigger than H&G. The H&G thing is irrelevant in terms of AFC Liverpool. It's not set up in response to them.

The simple answer to why now though is this.

There are now thousands and thousands of reds priced out of the game. The reorganisation next year in the non league world basically means that we either do it in time for next season or we don't do it at all.

If you want kids brought up steeped in The Liverpool Way then they need to be stood watching football week in week out surrounded by Liverpool supporters.

If its too much to get into Anfield for so many, then this is how they can watch football week in week out surrounded by Liverpool supporters.

There's a huge group of Reds who can't afford the game anymore. There's another large group of fans who can only afford to go to Anfield a couple of times a year.

This isn't LFC of course. But it does have an LFC identity because it's a club that is collectively owned and run by LFC fans for LFC fans.

Same songs. Same colours. Same community of reds.

Beats going to B&Q of a Saturday afternoon don't you reckon?

Didn't answer this bit. So just returning to it. I wouldn't claim AFC Liverpool is the real team with the real fans.

LFC is the real team. Simple as that. We don't want people jibbing LFC at all. That's not the point of this.

Loads of the real fans just can't get to see them anymore and so don't watch football with other reds like they once did - and so nor do their kids.

As such you'll find the real fans in both places as each stadium (Anfield and AFC Liverpool's) will be packed with passionate reds.

LFC will always be the REAL team of course. But this is an addition whose time has come in these days of Premiership prices.

After all, is it any wonder people complain about the atmos at the ground these days when so few kids have experienced what it is to be a football supporter and been taught how to be one by fellow Reds.

Same passions. Same fans. Same songs. Same colours. Same traditions being handed down the generations.

I'm so glad to hear it was'nt just a response to our Ownership issues. The reasons you give for setting it up are far more honourable & pertinant. I feared a split of some kind.

The ownership stuff is a pain in the arse really as everyone immediately thinks its a reaction to that.

If its a commentary on anything its the game in general. Game 39. Ticket prices.

LFC is actually one of the better clubs in terms of ticket prices but it's still way too high for many.

My brother had to save up for about 7 months to take his 18yo lad to the game. My Dad never had to do that.

Can you imagine being in a tight little ground packed tight with 2,000 Scousers who can't usually afford to go to a game, singing Liverpool songs and having a laugh, and yelling at the linesman who is just 10 foot away, and supporting a team in red that represents LFC fans.

It's gonna be an absolute scream, and worth the few quid just for the atmos in my view. I reckon it'll be a boss day out every time AFC Liverpool play.
