    Quote from Keniget:

Why do people want Torres so badly?

    He's not a goalscorer.

We already have two "providers" in Kuyt and Bellamy. We now need to add a world class finisher of chances to our team. Although his goalscoring record isn't that bad, that isn't his game.

    And from DJS:
If we're looking for a goalscorer, Torres is NOT the man.

He is a long way off 'prolific'.

20 in all comps in one season - has he ever managed it? Dont think so.

Good player, lots of potential but not the solution right now.

BWAHAHAHAHA Although I think they'll be happy to take that back. Remember Nic bigging Torres up though before the transfer, I had some doubts but was also excited, he probably surpassed all our hopes.
        * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Easy to be wise after the event

To be fair, torres HAD never scored 20 goals in a season, so i wasnt exactly being radically off track.

              HAHAHAHA! Excellent.

I argued Torres' case and his record was comparable to Shearer's at the same age. I feel a teeny bit smug when I said there was no reason why, in a better side (just like Shearer - Southampton to Blackburn), Torres couldn't become the prolific goalscorer that Shearer became after his big move.

You gotta be cruel to be kind!!!!!!

I think everyone had their worries, especially when you are spending that much on one player. How he has proved he is worth that plus more!!!!!!!

                Amazing, simply amazing!!!!!!!!!

                    Ronaldo - Starts 22, Sub Appearances 2, Goals 21.

So as we can see, Rafa obviously "rotates players" and Sir Alex "rests players"!!!

                    Premiership 07-08 So Far

                    Torres - Mins 1929 - Goals 18 - Scores every 107 minutes.
                    Ronaldo - Mins 1935 - Goals 21 (2 pens) - Scores every 92 minutes.
                    ---------------------------

Surprisingly only 2 penalties scored in the Premiership for Ronaldo this year. Their stats are remarkably similar. Ronaldo does still have the edge at the moment though. But for a first season Torres has been unbelievable.

On a side topic can you imagine how good the Scum would have been if they had managed to sign Torres. He would have scored BUCKETLOADS with all the chances they create.

Okay so I've just found a comment of mine where I said he was good but overrated, long before we signed him.

I think I said all that stuff after we'd signed him.

I've often thought the same thing. He'd be frightening for them.

Just as well he's frightening for us!

Who I believe take their stats direct from Opta so they should be spot on.
