      Agree with that.

I always liked him as a player. He might have been a bit lightweight but he has more about him than the likes of Voronin. And he has done well in Spain since his move.

Neither Pongolle or Le Tallec have proved good enough. Some players just don't progress that much.

You could argue that Pongo is better than Voronin, but that don't make Pongo LFC material either!
        Forwards.......

I'd agree with that. He's developed hugely but sill not an 'LFC standard' player

IMO he was only ever another one of those 18 year olds who got tarred with the 'new so-and-so' brush.

Maybe he believed his own hype and got complacent or maybe he just wasn't that good in the first place but he never played better than in his debut against Crewe.

Last I heard he was struggling at some piss-poor French team. No wonder he's crying about what could have been.

Est1892 veteran ShaggyAlonso believes he made his 'biggest mistake' by telling his Manc mates 'Le Tallec is better than Ronaldo'.

Le Tallec was brought to Anfield from Le Havre in 2002 by former Reds manager Gerard Houllier while the similarly highly-rated Ronaldo signed for United a year later. Shaggy, then just 25, proclaimed to each and every one of his vile United-supporting 'chums' that Le Tallec was the finest young talent in world football, and would eclipse anything Ronaldo achieved in the game.

"It is my biggest mistake," said the married father of none. "I also told my friends that Bruno Cheyrou, on the back of one friendly against Lazio, would take the Premier League by storm, but than one pales by comparison. I don't make many poor judgements but the Le Tallec one was catastrophic and, unsurprisingly, still haunts me today."

His Manc mates were unavailable for comment.
LOL, we've all got a bit of Shaggy in us.

Le Tallec never had the dedication to succeed.

However its Pongolle that we ruined. He has talent and has been wasted. Everyone could see he had goals in him but we never gave him a proper chance or a run of games. He would have been a success here, at the very least a good option from the bench

I tell you it is all a conspiracy to make you look like a **** I tell you - Wenger instigated it but Fergie and Houllier were in on it too.

IMO both players (le tallec and pongolle) were decent players. they both showed signs of promise but neither were ever gonna be world beaters. i would liken le tallec to danny murphy.... he would have made a good option off the bench in the last 10 mins of a game but was never going to be the 1st name on the team sheet. we have better players at the club than le tallec was ever going to be. the fact he is playing for some french team in obscurity shows that he's a decent player nothing more.

pongolle was the same. he had pace but no final product. never going to be good enough but not a **** player. both would easily get a game at reading, derby, sunderland, everton etc....
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

I think it is difficult to tell really - Pongolle proved he had potential as a goalscorer last year in Spain. I think they both certainly had the ability to make squad players but ALT didn't seem to have the attitude and FSP was hard to find the ideal position for. I think they are the sort of players who would really have benefited from us having a feeder team where we could have got them first team football and guided their development.

Still you are probably right that they were gifted youngsters who didn't have the necessary attributes to step up in the company of adults.

thinking about it, with his pace at least, to have a feeder team and the proper developement FSP could have made a half decent winger / right sided forward.
