I guess we shall see. I'm not convinced by any of what I read in the papers really but all the direct quotes from Crouch recently seem to indicate he would consider staying very seriously."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Only Villa for meOriginally posted by liverpooltj View PostI think we will be in the market for a new striker next season and with DIC looking like they will be onboard which could mean a bigger transfer kitty. Which striker would you like to see at Anfield next season to partner Torres upfront? I myself wouldn't mind seeing any one of these.
Eto'o
diego milito
DrogbaI make no apologies, this is me

If we persist with the 4-2-3-1 formation, I can't see a big name partner being bought for Torres. We'll buy a couple of supporting attacking midfielders / forwards.
Van Der Vaart has been in excellent form for Hamburg and scoring for fun. He's been whoring himself to foreign clubs for over a year now, so is obviously ready to leave and would cost less than Diego no doubt. Whether he'd be willing to come to the Premiership is another matter.
Farfan could be purchased as a backup option, replacing Kuyt, Voronin and Pennant. He can play on the right hand side of a 4-3-3 as well as provide backup for Torres down the middle.
As Carra said in the official - we lack pace and need to improve in that department.

To be fair, I wouldn't blame him if he left. Rafa doesn't seem to have much faith in him and this has been evident for some time. I just wish Rafa would give him a run of games even if he played rubbish in one of them. No good playing one game then out the next as it hardly breedsOriginally posted by dww View PostI guess we shall see. Dr EvilOriginally posted by Dr Evil View PostLike dww says i think Rafa would move for an attacking midfield type player for the 4231 rather than an out and out striker type.
if we are playing at championship manager ideas then i'd say go for Ronaldinho, a front 4 of Ronnie, Gerrard and Babel playing behind Torres would cause a few problems for defenders
with the added bonus of Ronaldinho fitting easily into the best midfield in the world song
Otherwise Rafa may move for someone Like Joe Cole to play there as he knows he won't need time adapt to the league.
and we could always get Owen for a couple of Million to play about 10 games a season whilst Torres has a rest.
I was right with you all the way until that last line
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

I agree - I wouldn't blame Crouch if he did leave I just think that as it stands I think he will stay. I think the problem is we all agree that Crouch is not going to start ahead of Torres and he doesn't bring the things to the team which Kuyt has in recent games and I think the reason Rafa has persevered with DK is because he saw he could link things in the way he is now.Originally posted by marcus50bucks View PostTo be fair, I wouldn't blame him if he left. I was arguing with my mate about this yesterday, because now we've clearly settled on that formation there's one main issue with it - we're ****ed without Fernando up top. So, we could do with a top striker in case he ever got injured etc, but what top striker will be happy on the bench? If we did get someone like Eto'o or Villa, they'd have to be playing every game as well, or would Rafa just play one of them where Kuyt is now?? It's a catch 22 situation. One undeniable fact is we could do with another striker, because our backups at the moment aren't good enough and Kuyt looks far better in his new RW/RS hybrid roleOriginally posted by WILF View PostI don't think buying another out and out striker is necessary with the 4231 formation.
If available , I would like us to sign Ronaldinho , and then play the following formation.
----------------Torres---------------
Babel-------- Gerrard-------Ronnie
-------Masher---------Xabi---------
With Babel, Gerrard and Ronaldinho having the freedom to interchange as they need during the game it would be difficult for defences to mark/contain them.
With some of Crouch, Kuyt, Lucas, Benayoun, Nemeth, Hammil , Anderson to choose from as squad players we would have enough strength in depth."the correct decision would have been a penalty for us a red card for Gattuso and a yellow for Stevie"

Funnt how Kuyt's thrived there- he doesnt seem to have the qulities to do so, but seen as he plays in a similar position for Holland, he certinaly gives summat there.
Personally I think we need a playmakery type to sit in the middle with SG nominally on the right altho allowed to go wherever the **** he wants and Ryan (or a new option) on the left of the 3 behind Torres.
Width would be provided by 2 top quality attacking fullbacks, with Xabi & Masher sitting in front of the 4 defenders.3rd place. Worst champions ever.

agreed, i reckon with this 4-2-3-1 formation torres could be replaced with babel easily. however, babel looks like he could be devastating out wide of a front 3 so i'd still like another striker (aguero my choice) to compete up front for the role of lone striker. it would also allow us to switch to a 4-4-2 formation as well and have 2 world class strikers in the line up. we defo need a right sided forward though....just dont know who i'd go for! keep kyut as back up as well as bennayoun for the two wide positions.Originally posted by red g View PostI think we have a replacement for torres in babel. I worry about the quality either side of torres and thats for me whats more important.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.
