Its the coming at us in the second half that worries me. Would rather put it to bed early on. I just don't trust results these days. Every last CL game has gone the opposite way to what I would have liked. An early away goal would calm the nerves.

The key point though is that we dont need to beat them, they need to beat us. And by 2 goals.
If we go at them from the off, we wont necessarily score. What we will do is increase their chances of finding gaps in our backline and scoring early, which will put us in a compromising position.
We just need to play the game and keep our composure. I think we'll score but there's no urgency to go out and do it early. Just keep ourselves in control and in the driving seat and as time ticks by, that away goal will become easier to get.

I don't like the idea of us going there and all-out defending. This is a team that has barely lost since September. In fact, only once. To us. They are quite capable of scoring against us. To score four? That is even beyond them, I think. Italian teams do not start playing until the second half. If they go in at half time at 1-0 down I wonder how they will cope with that.

Spot on. I'm not advocating a backs against the wall approach, we just need to control possession and the tempo. We can attack when it's suitable, but if something's not on, we dont need to try and force it. Just keep the ball and wait. We've no need to chase anything. They're the ones who'll need to chase the game, especially if it reaches the 2nd half without them having scored.Originally posted by Chrono View PostNot attacking doesn't mean just defending. We can play posession football and move it around slowly without leaving ourselves exposed.
