I think the problem is that Rafa forgot that he doesn't allow his players to shag during the season. It's just as bad as drinking. Saps the energy. So, they're all going at it like rabbits during the summer. Watch for lots of babies in February and March in the years to come.

no question Xabi did the right thing here. Anyone that would disagree is clearly a cunt

Rafa has disappointed me too, i would have expected him to be a bit more compassionate in a situation like this.

THF I think the whole thing has been blown out of all proportion. Once again the press have used Rafa's laguage difficulties to try and invent a wedge between and the players.

Absolutely nothing in it and I bet Rafa will be one of the first to congratulate him.

Rafa didnt actually say anything wrong. Once again, I think it was the media taking it out of context.

The labour was, it seems, longer than expected. We waited and waited, he said, then he could not wait any longer so he told Xabi to stay behind. But, he still had a plane on standby, just in case.

He was not being funny when he said it, imo. He was just saying, they could not afford to wait any longer.

Not once did he condemn him for this. He was just saying, Xabi has not travelled because we could not wait for him any longer. Labours are unpredictable things. I expect they waited the longest time available to them.

            What's wrong with saying that?

Balague said on Revista that Xabi will seriously consider returning to Spain at the end of the season.

And if he does I have no doubt it will be for family reasons and have absolutely nothing to do with Rafa's relationship. IMO there is no issue at all. This is a perfect example of the media inventing a story.

Rafa has his own kids and I'm pretty sure they would come before football as well. It's just the media again making up **** as they go along!

Was asked about Torres's impressive form and why he thinks he's so clinical now, when he used to miss many chances at Atletico. Rafa said it's because he's going for precision and placement now and also he has players like Babel, Gerrard and Kuyt supporting him and the rest of the team is well balanced.

Then he was asked about the Xabi situation and he sounded a bit annoyed at how certain news get picked up by the Spanish press 'over the internet with a lack of journalistic scrutiny' and 'gathering news from the sensationalist London press who are openly anti-Liverpool'. Then the interviewer points to Rafa that perhaps the official site should've released a note explaining the situation and he tells Rafa the version that was out there.

Rafa explains that they had agreed about bringing Xabi in and had even put him on a waiting list for plane tickets but as the hours went by and nothing happened he had to make a decision and he made the decision based on Xabi having played 90 minutes on Saturday and having had little to eat, very little rest, etc... but that there was no problem at all and he had texted and left a voicemail congratulating Xabi on the birth of his newborn.

Then he gets asked if it had bothered him at all since he's known for his 'single-minded' reputation of putting football first and Rafa pretty much said that's was utter bollocks that keeps getting repeated over and over. He puts his family first and then football and that he wants the best for his family and his players. Football is very important but family is more important.

And then he rubbished the Atletico and Inter links, saying that the off-the-pitch stuff doesn't affect him because he's focused on his job and he's very happy at Liverpool.

i remember staying in hope street hotel in may 2005 and xabi was shagging the receptionist then. i met him outside the front door and the bar man later told me that xabi and a few other players used to live in the hotel before they got there houses sorted out when they first arrived at liverpool fc. i wonder was it the same girl that he shafted for the baby
