Thanjk you.

Still not sure about this formation. We don't seem to get enoguh players in the box. I know Torres has scored two hatricks, however in his lack couple of games we don't seem to have created many chances for him.

The formation will work better when we have a better player on the right, that way the 3 behind Torres can interchange and support Torres better as well as make better runs in to the box.
I'm not a big fan of this formation. We gave away the ball so often in the game today, hoofing it down the pitch with Torres losing out to Bikey and co when it was remotely near him. Reading pressed us back quite a lot and though we had an outlet with Babel down the left he rarely made the most of the many times he got the ball.
I think it can be a good formation IF we have the right players.
We need a much better quality right sided midfield player instead of Kuyt. Someone with pace and a real goal threat.
We also need better attacking fullbacks.
With better personnel the system can be very effective.
Exactly. 2 genuine quality full backs and a class attacking player to play on the right would add an awful lot, but even now this looks to be the best way to use our best players.
Gerrard is significantly more effective in this role than in a 442 imo.
Torres could not be scoring any more goals. That would just be silly. So this formation is working for him
It suits Babel, who isn't a 442 winger, yet also isn't ready to play right upfront imo, I think that would decrease his effectiveness.
Any other formation involves us fitting square pegs into round holes, OR having to play the likes of Pennant and Kewell whilst leaving better players (Alonso/Lucas) on the bench.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue

What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

You seem to be basing your judgement of the formation on today's game. Which is strange.
We're battering teams with it, it's well balanced, solid and allows us to overpower teams. I'm stunned that people are complaining about it.
