Naturally. But it wouldnt be much good if they werent playing in a settled side.

Nothing to do with THEM settling.

Are you trying to tell me how good a job Rafa is doing settling Lucas and Babel in?

Nothing wrong with rotating, it's just knowing when to do it.

Changing about 3 players every week is fine, but if you're leaving Gerrard out, then play Torres.

The problem comes when you are changing 4+ players, or resting all your key players in one game.

Of course the best solution is to take your best players of EVERY game where the game is wrapped up. That would lessen the amount of times in which you need to leave them out during the season.

One example is where we won 6-0 v Derby. Good for Torres to rattle in some goals, but why not take him of before the end and then play him in the next fixtures v Pomey and Birmingham?

anyone who thinks we have a genuine chance of winning this years title is in cloud cuckoo land.

for us to require 3 wins whilst the top 3 lose (man U to lose almost HALF their remaining games!) during just an 8/9 stretch seems pretty unlikely to happen to me. just cannot see it. sorry to p1ss on your bonfires but this is perhaps the most ridiculously blindly optimistic thread i've ever seen. it would be a miracle if we won this title.

maybe we can snatch 3rd but even that is looking unlikely.

I'm somewhat amazed that we are less than 10 points off the pace (albeit having played a game more) coming into Easter week.

To have any hope in hell, though, we would have to beat both Manure and the Arse, and stay unbeaten for the rest of the season.

Not impossible, but a tall, tall order

Now whether we improve on last year's tally and distance from the top then im more optimisic. i can see us finishing strongly unless we get a key injury but perhaps we can make something like progress from a season that looked completely dead only a month ago.

Indeed. We were 22 points of the pace about a montha nad a half to two months ago, all be it with two games in hand. We were also 18 points of at one stage with same games palyed if I remember rightly.

By the time we play Man U it will liely be 11 points. So nothing is impossible. But to require 3 teams to collapse and our team to win everyone is a tall order.

It would be the greatest league come back in history. Either way, fail to win next weekend and that's the end.

and I don't have to remind you that two of those games we took the lead
Fair enough we lost against the scums but i would have taken a draw and we should have won against the chavs and arses which gives us 64 points.

We shoudl haev beaten wigan(H), brums(H) and city(A), thats extra 6 points we could have been laughing. What has hampered our season is we drew too many games/couldnt kill the game and the controversial rotation policy.

And maybe the recent revival is down to said rotation system and that our best 11 now seem to be fitter and in better form than the others around us.Its all swings and roundabouts mate and everything is hypothetical.

Its more down to lack of firepower other than Torres and Gerard.Improve on that and rotation won't matter IMO

i think only a fool would ignore this (pundits & press) and you're totally spot on. simply put, quality in depth. this needs to be better as the premiership gets more competitive. reading taking a point from OT? boro drawing with arsenal at home? Man U only able to beat the sh1ttest side in premiership history 1-0 in a must win match? the league is so close. thats why the bargain basement players such as voronin, crouch and pennant just aren't good enough and that's why we get caught out by rotation. as a policy, it makes total sense. only issue is if you don't have enough quality. but how do you know you don't have the quality until they let you down? sometimes pennant and crouch and voronin have been great. other times they're sh1te. the sides we put out against the likes of birmingham and reading should have won those matches so as far as im concenred. Rafa hasn't actually got it wrong.

Rafa rotates across a core of 24 players. I'd be happy for him to rotate across a core of 18. We would get the advantage of a semi-settled team and decent fitness. Settling and decent quality is the balance that we need to get right. Maybe with more quality after the next transfer window this is what will come to pass. Let's hope so.

I also think the advent of 7 subs will help us next year as we have an awesome reserve team and we will able to give them minutes next year. They've already learnt how to play the liverpool way and could well be ready to be part of the core 18 for the season after next!
