i honestly dont see the problem,the manager spoke out on behalf of one of his players,a player who it has been reported he has a strained relationship with i may add.

and i dont think this is a rumor that hasnt made it outside liverpool yet,the hacks have heard about it.

and trust me,they dont hang around waiting for reasons to print stories,if they were gonna carry the story they would have done it by now.

instead of judging someone,again,lets all assume stevies a big boy and whatever is said is like water off a ducks back to him.

That Gerrard chant has been going on for over a year. It is a ****ty thing to chant but it's not the first time ****ty stuff has been chanted at players. David Beckham for one has had allsorts chanted at him about his missus. Rafa shouldn't have mentioned it because our fans are not whiter than white and it just makes us look like hypocrites.

Which may be a reason why he said it. He can't criticize his own fans directly. He may be wishing to highlight the issue of player abuse and respect as a whole.
