Maybe he's trying to show unity with the players and doesn't want another summer of Gerrard going to Madrid, Milan, Barca etcThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I was sat next to the Everton fans and their constant chanting at Gerrard was I thought disgraceful. But to be honest our own fans have a fair pop at others. So we shouldn't get sanctimonious.Originally posted by M_B View PostWhich may be a reason why he said it. He can't criticize his own fans directly. He may be wishing to highlight the issue of player abuse and respect as a whole.
They also had a go at Rafa – just a fat Spanish waiter – but my wife thought this funny.
LFC has been renowned for respecting others and for sharp witty comments. In the 30 odd years I’ve been going to Anfield I think respect has fallen and abusive behaviour has increased. I think Rafa was right to say what he did and I’m sure it’s aimed as much at our fans as theirs – though obviously he couldn’t say that. Left alone it will only degrade into something worse and I support his comments fully.

Fair point ... I have to agree
Anybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. Nov 2015
