    Ryan Babel

Hate to slag any of our lads off after such a superb result, but Babel was absolutely awful tonight.

I'd seriously consider playing Yossi in his place for the return leg.

He got next to bugger all service from the CM though. It's hard to impress, just like Torres and SG, when you are over run in CM.

I'd rest him on Saturday and play him again next week, he is much more dangerous then Benayoun.

Benayoun did well with defensive side of the game but provided ZERO attacking wise, infact looked lightweight.
      We come not to play.

hes been ineffective in the last 3 games

hes young, hes talented and hes NOT a left winger in a 4-2-3-1. I certainly think hell make it at lfc

you could see he wasn't up for it tonight right from the beginning. he was off the pace, he was misjudging everything, and his control let him down. it was defo a mental thing with him tonight, i think the occasion got the better of him

people seem to forget how young and inexperienced he is

i would stick with him to start with in the return, he'll be more confident at home, and bring on benni if we need a goal or babel is ineffective again

He plays well at Anfield and we will need his pace in the return leg. To be fair to him Arsenal kept doubling up on him so he had nowhere to go. Toure is a class defender.
He might do better at home

In an ideal world Gerrard would have dropped deeper and try to help the team get more possession and the two QUICK wde players would provide support to Torres.

He looks a little short of confidence atm and a bit tired on it.

In saying his pace and power is still there for all to see and it's not as if we have a shotload of quality options on the wing either hence he's playing on a regular basis nowadays.

Yeah, prob be rested on sat. Expect him to start in the 2nd leg though.

He's young and the Arsenal defence are as good as he's ever likely to come up against. Give him time. I'd keep playing him, he's got something the lad has.

His problems are all mental, I dont think he believes in himself enough and I think he ends up hiding a bit as a result. Hopefully he can get over that as the talent is there.

He just seems very lightweight. Needs to firm up quickly because he can become a truly great player if he was stronger and showed more determination.

And he is visibly improving. At the beginning of the season he always cut inside and rarely used his left foot. That has changed and given time he'll be a two footed player.

indeed...as did the mancs, as did the blueshyte

when this is happening there are spaces elsewhere to be exploited. its telling that his opposite wide man got into the box to score. maybe thats not entirely unrelated

I think he needs to be used as super sub for a couple of games to catch his breath. He just seems very tired after starting 12 games(?) consecutively.
