He just didn't bother. I dont remember him doing anything other than let play go stright through/passed him. I don't question his ability but I do question his effort.

Confidence is a lot to do with it i reckon, He could be better at Anfield. He'll need to be if he plays for sure.Originally posted by Ben Tover View PostI think he needs to be used as super sub for a couple of games to catch his breath. He just seems very tired after starting 12 games(?) consecutively.

I think he can be a lazy sod sometimes. It pisses me off. You see Dirky running after everything and Babel just can't be arsed sometimes and he is a bit lightweight too.

I'm a fam of his but he was dreadful tonight. Looked overwhelmed. Still think he'd be better at Anfield.Originally posted by Ron_Mexico View Postyou could see he wasn't up for it tonight right from the beginning. he was off the pace, he was misjudging everything, and his control let him down. it was defo a mental thing with him tonight, i think the occasion got the better of him
people seem to forget how young and inexperienced he is
i would stick with him to start with in the return, he'll be more confident at home, and bring on benni if we need a goal or babel is ineffective again

Yeah but it's not just that, it was his overall effort...I couldn't believe my eyes when he was goin off and the SKy stats said he'd only completed 4 passes in 55 mins of football. Clearly wasn't his night but he pissed me off because he kept wasting the ball and looked like he didn't have a clue what to do with it whenever it came his way. He was being watched closely by both Toure and Eboue. What the **** was he supposed to do? Its very tough being double marked
And WHAT was that crossfield ball he played from the left back position that nearly hit the opposite corner flag
At least the only way is up and we've seen flashes of what he can do, but even if things aren't going your way you should at least be showing the right attitude instead of giving up, which he seemed to do. He was almost wanting to come off and didn't look at all surprised when his number went up"the correct decision would have been a penalty for us a red card for Gattuso and a yellow for Stevie"

as soon as he went off don't think we touch the ball for 20 minutes. Sometimes a player can be effective without making a pass, a tackle just be being there. Kenny's run's used to cause more space than mosses in that bed time story. Its times like these we learn to live again FF

He shined against Bolton because a) Bolton are crap and b) Bolton gave him acres of space to play in. That match apart he's been quite ineffective over the last couple of months and considering the amount he has played there hasn't been enough end product in terms of assists or goals.
We all accept Kuyt has limitations, no pace and a poor first touch, but at least his work-rate compensates for some of that. Babel went missing tonight and if we had the option I'd swap him for Walcott in a heartbeat. Walcott may be not quite as big physically but I think he'd destroy teams in a side such as ours where he'd be the focal point of our counter-attacks.

Im a fan of Babel but h'es doing it hard at the moment. Games like this reinforce the need for quality, pace and width and once we sort that out we will very, very hard to beat. Yossi just doesnt have the quality."I watched the Champions League quarter-finals and the way they crushed Arsenal. Only the greatest and the best can play such a match.

That was my concern for him last night, he just didnt seem arsed. When he gave the ball away he showed very little determination to go and win it back. Very disappointing.Originally posted by Chrono View PostHe just didn't bother. I dont remember him doing anything other than let play go stright through/passed him. I thought he was very good and did his defensive duties last night. Can't fault him. He maybe needs to up his stamina to produce high levels of performances during a match on a more regular basis, but he's got undoubted rawness which ultimately is being polished by Rafa.

Nobody doubts the lads talent but performance and results count. Babel not just last night but fior much of the season has not shown enough IMO to merit a starting position.
He does not work hard enough when we are not in possession which for me is just as important as what he does with the ball. I would have plumped for a more solid left side by playing (forgive me) Riise at Full back and Aurelio ahead of him in the 4 2 3 1 if not Benny?
That said....last night I thought was a **** performace but good result....thats football

He was very poor last night. Still remember when he had it on the edge of our area at about 40 mins into the first half and tried to play a ridiculous cross-field ball and hit it straight out. We had to withold a good 5 mins of pressure as a result
Yossi should play in the second leg. He did really well when he came on
