the article is clearly twisted but his points are spot on. the nhs is **** and germany's public services and quality of life is much better.

I've lived in both and we're a long way behind. Public health, transport network/affordability, community services in general, clean streets, crime. we're a long way off them unfortunately. could yo usee england hosting a world cup as well organised as 2006? never.

Is anyone really surprised to hear someone say that Germany's health service is better than the NHS?
yup, that was my take on it as well. Even Rafa said when he first joined (as with all new foreign players at our club) that they couldnt understand a word Carra said at first!

Too right about the NHS as well, but if he is on 30k p/w why didnt he go private or get the club to sort our some medical help?

He says foreigners struggle to understand home-grown team mates such as captain Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher because they "speak with some peculiar local accent".

I'm from the North-West, but i could still do with ****ing sub-titles when i see a Carra interview!

Just noticed this on Voronin's Wikipedia page:

On 26 February, Liverpool announced that they had signed Voronin on a free transfer and that he would join the team during the summer.[5] Voronin was unveiled as a Liverpool player on 6 July 2007 after signing a four-year deal.[6] Voronin was given the number 10 shirt, a number once worn by Anfield legends John Barnes, Michael Owen, William Nelson. Voronin is often sarcastically referred to as "The Dangerman" owing to his lack of scoring prowess.

I posted that exact excerpt when Voronin signed. I asked then....who the **** is William Nelson? Is it supposed to be some sort of joke? Willie Nelson?

                  If so...how is that relevant?

I could of course be entirely wrong but surely it's Willie Nelson - and if it is I love the randomness of it.

                      From the offal:
There are comments in today's newspapers suggesting you are not happy here in England. Can you explain what exactly you meant?

To begin with, I never said I don't like it here. When I first moved here I didn't find it easy because I'd lived in Germany for 12 years. I didn't know the language but I'm gradually getting there. My wife had a baby here and, thank God, everything was okay. So, I am getting more and more used to life here every day.

So, you're saying you were mis-quoted?

It was either a misunderstanding or I was deliberately mis-quoted, yes.

So is your family settled now?

We are feeling much better than six or seven months ago. When we have time we go into town. My wife likes to spend time shopping in the city. We like it here and don't have any problems with life in England or the town, except for the weather!

How is your English coming along? Some of the comments in the newspapers suggested you were having trouble understanding Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher?

[Laughs] Stevie and Carra have Liverpudlian accents, obviously. I find it difficult to understand the Scouse accent, but that's natural I think. It is easier for me to understand the Spanish lads and the boss because they speak slower. My English has progressed quite a bit, though, and I can now communicate well with my teammates and the coach. I'm hoping that very soon my Scouse accent will start to come through.

Total stitch up isnt it? He didnt mention the NHS once in his quotes, yet they make the assumption he was criticising it. Unreal.

Those quotes are a translation from ****ing Russian too. That can be done anyway anyone likes really, and that reads like some GCSE student's version. I'd imagine what was actually said, or meant, in his native tongue is nothing like that.
