Agree, #19 is a journey not a single step. I don't care, I'm realistic as long as we get there soon, I'm OK with that journey. Manure, Chelseas and the Arse are 3 years ahead of us. So my expectations are more pragmatic than those who think we can win it tomorrow.

I also agree w/Paco that it takes a special mentality to win the EPL, we don't have that yet and $ are not going to solve that problem. Couple of years, maybe. Next year, no chance and it won't be the fault of technique, players, or $.

    Just my take on it.

I don't like Parry but he is an angel compared to Gillett and Hicks.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

If he would stop insulting and belittling people I would concur.

Sorry for the idiot thing but it really is strange that some people actually think that Hicks would be any good long term for the club.

The Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers fans want to get rid of him, he destroyed Corinthians.....The list just goes on and on.

chelski went from no hopers struggling for 5th, got $$$$ and hey presto....2 EPL wins in 2 years. give rafa the outrageous funds to make the 4 signings i beleive it would take and we very realistically could win the EPL next year.

This seems to be because he knows he makes a profit without spending money to take them forward. I'll never forget wneh he said he liked LFC as a brand because a huge number of fans had such brand loyalty, that they spent cash whether the team was a success or not.

I had an idea of his ideas then. 'Tis the reason I always wanted DIC.

He can only do what he is doing now, CL qualification first and challenge for the league title second as long as he isn't backed big time in the transfer market.

We need DIC to be able to make the next step, it's as simple as that.

The next step is buying quality instead of quantity and quality won't come cheap.

He did the same to me,it was par for the course on the old Free KT where he modded. He dealt with the likes of Brendoom and cRyan every day which probably drove him crazy, hence the agressive style.

Rafa has showed that he is excellent in the transfer market when he get the chance to sign his first choice players.

Give him the chance to sign three or four high quality players and I have no doubt that we would win #19 next season.

Liverpool are plunged into civil war Oliver Kay
They may have reached the Champions League semi-finals, but Liverpool were heading towards meltdown at boardroom level last night as tensions between rival factions in the club's hierarchy escalated. After a day in which Tom Hicks, the beleaguered co-owner, failed to force Rick Parry to resign as chief executive, officials at Anfield expressed fears about what may lie ahead unless there is a change of ownership.

Hicks wrote to Parry yesterday formally requesting his resignation and citing perceived failures in the club's commercial strategy and problems in his relationship with Rafael Benítez, the manager.

However, Parry, who has the support of the majority of his fellow board members, immediately issued a statement expressing his intention to “remain focused on the job of serving Liverpool Football Club to the best of my abilities at this very important time of our season”.

Although Parry was seeking legal advice last night, it appears that Hicks has failed in his bid to remove him, with his estranged co-owner, George Gillett Jr, unwilling to support any motion to force out the chief executive. One source at Anfield said that Hicks had “tried to flex his muscles and ended up showing that he is a lot less powerful at this club than he likes to think”, before casting doubts on the Texan's ability to raise the funds that he would need to buy out Gillett.

                            Hicks denies DIC's fan claim
Gillett, in any case, has indicated that he would refuse to sell his 50 per cent stake to Hicks.

Dubai International Capital (DIC), the Arab investment group, remains committed to buying out the two American owners, even though Sameer al-Ansari, the company's chief executive, suggested yesterday that he had decided to “pull out completely” due to the problems in breaking the stalemate that exists between Hicks and Gillett.

Sources have indicated that DIC has merely retreated from the negotiating table, steadfast in its belief that Hicks will be forced to sell if, as it suspects, Merrill Lynch, his latest financial adviser, is unwilling to support him in his bid to raise the capital that he needs.

With Hicks so far refusing to reopen negotiations with DIC, though, there is a sense of anxiety at Anfield over the breakdown of negotiations between various factions at boardroom level.

One source said: “It is poisonous. Hicks cannot stand Gillett. Gillett cannot stand Hicks. Hicks cannot stand Parry. Parry cannot stand Hicks. On the pitch, things are going great, but off the pitch, it's meltdown.”

Parry, who could not be reached to expand on his earlier statement, was said to be deeply unhappy not only with Hicks's demand, but also with the manner in which it was delivered. Although a letter was sent to Anfield, the first that Parry heard of it, while at a Premier League meeting in London, was via a news outlet, which claimed that the story had reached it from the Hicks family via a Liverpool supporters' group. “We are in favour of communication with supporters, but this does not seem to be the way to do business,” the source added.

Parry is one of six directors on the Liverpool board and has the support of Gillett and his son, Foster, as well as David Moores, the former chairman, who is honorary life-president.

Hicks is in a minority with his son, Tom Jr, and is thus thought unlikely to succeed in passing any resolutions at boardroom level, with others hoping that a growing sense of powerlessness will force him to sell.

The naivety of some people suggesting a Hicks buyout is best for the club. Read up on him, he'll asset strip the team to get the stadium built, probably to the point where we do a Leeds. His only thought is to make a half billion pound profit. He cares NOTHING for the success of the team, the traditions of the club.

Look at the the facts of what has gone on since he bought us and his past history. There is NOTHING to suggest he'd be good for us. WAKE UP!
