I thought Lucas was decent in the first half and excellent in the second.

His second half performance was the best I've seen from him in a red shirt.

In my opinion he was our second best player after Gerrard today.

I think some on here are being overly harsh on the lad. Sure he hasn't set the world alight yet, but he hasn't done much wrong either. Give him time and I'm sure he'll progress. You don't become the Brazilian Player of the Year for nothing.

I'm really suprised that Rafa is playing him in this deeper role. At Gremio he spent more time in the final 3rd than anywhere else. His goal record was a testament to that.

Let's hope Rafa is just "teaching" him a new role, because he is seriously wasted as a holding midfielder.

Lucas' awareness is improving all the time and he has a good engine for a CM. He was getting ahead of Alonso in attacks and behind him when needing to defend. His positional sense was brilliant when he read where the Blackburn defender was going to clear, made a first time pass to Gerrard to allow Stevie all the time in the world to pick out Torres. He's not brilliant (yet) but I think many on here are forgetting he was only supposed to be cover for Alonso/Momo.

I already mentioned this before....Lucas has an eye for the killer pass. He also moves into an attacking position more often than Xabi and Masch. Not to mention the fact that he is always looking to shoot from far.

He is more effective as an attacking player than a holding MF.

I think he has been quality for us so far, considering his age, the fact that this is his first season, he is foreign and he has not really got a run of games in the first 11, when he has been called apon to do a job he has done it really really well all things considered. This is a lad who made is first senior appearance in any team in late 2006.

For me an immense talent and one which will grow into some player. More than happy with his performance so far.

Lucas has done all asked of him.He`s normally an attacking MF`er but he`s never gonna displace SG in that role.Rafa has found a place for him in the team non the less.Well done Lucas and Rafa.

Lucas is an excellent player having an excellent season for us. FFS, it's been his first year getting used to the level of the premiership and apart from Torres who's been phenomenal, I can say that Lucas has done very well ! Great talent.
