however i think there's no doubt that this years CL in moscow was the club's main aim from the start of the season. it'd be amazing if we knocked them out again...

Defo more pressure on them. They'll have to play a full strength team to get anything at Goodison and if they win that, they'll be under pressure to keep going in the league and CL. Lose it and they'll be out of the running for the league and will concentrate on the second leg. As mentioned above, I'd be amazed if we did them a third time - the law of averages points to them.

Thing is, people can talk about laws of averages & that, but over the last season & a half, we have been better than them in the league on head to head showings. We won last season at home 2 nowt (albeit against a weakened team) & despite the 2 draws this, we were absolutely robbed by the ref at home this & ended up drawing & were marginally the better side at their place.

That is very different to the 1st couple of seasons under Rafa & I think we should really fancy our chances on the back of the evidence of the league games as well as our European form.

I spose I'm just saying that we are a better side than we were in any of the 2 semis & 1 group meetings over the last 3 years & they are worse, so despite the "law of averages argument" (which I have a fair bit of sympathy with myself), we should be confident.

Of course, it aint that straightforward as we saw against another "worsening" team in AC last year.
