    Gerrard "is a diver"

    Gerrard is a diver
How does Steven Gerrard consistently get away with diving? It used to be a straight contest between Didier Drogba and Cristiano Ronaldo to see who could pull off the best flying forward one-and-a-half somersault with pike.

But since the two star imports largely cleaned up their act, England's midfielder has taken over as the greatest play actor in the Premier League.

Gerrard dived twice against Blackburn and yet everyone appeared afraid to say it.

In the Sky commentary, Alan Smith euphemistically claimed: "Gerrard ran down a blind alley and decided to try his luck."

Later Andy Gray added: £Some would call it abusing the rules a little bit."

Some would, if they were trying to avoid the issue. He dived. And more's the shame because Gerrard is a much, much better player than that.

Its about time mr ME ME ME gets picked up on all his diving!

Great player, but a hypocritical diver!! Please leave the cheating to ****s like Ronaldo and Drogba!

    Cut it out please stevie!

For me he uses his pace to force the opposition to make a mistake, he knows what he is doing but technicaly I have never seen him dive. go down easy yes but not diving

Going down when you can stay up is diving.

In the first instance there was def contact, Gerrard's foot was clipped by Friedel's knee and in the 2nd incident Samba should have been sent off, no doubt that was a foul.

I agree he looks for penalties when the opportunity is there and is intellegent enough to take the ball away from the keeper at the right moment but you cant say there wasnt contact in those incidents.

The 2nd one was especially clear

There was contact with Freidel but it was only because Gerrard made sure there was. He should and could have just jumped out of the tackle.

When Samba bumped into his back that was outside the box and IMHO should have been a freekick and a red card.

The second was for me the same as the first one. He could and should have staid up.

Torres on the other hand should have gotten a penalty.

I couldn't give a flying **** - he does not 'dive' per se IMO, he maximises the potential benefit of any contact in the penalty box - all good as far as I am concerned.

I was embarrassed with his antics at the weekend. Cringeworthy.

If you throw yourself to the ground it's a ****ing dive end of.

Divers like SG need to be so careful. Andy Johnson has lost out on quite a few decent shouts for pens this season cos of his antics in earlier seasons. His rep as a diving little **** has preceded him.

Stevie isn't as bad as the two ****s mentioned above. Stevie like foreigners overreacts to the trips he gets. Ronaldo and Drogba don't need connection and they look like they have been shot from behind.

Besides, Des Kelly is a ****. Don't listen to his garbage. On the same level of knowledge as Steve Bunce.

In the post match interview, Gerrard was asked about the penalties and he said that the first one the ref got it right. Infact if you look at the incident, at no time does Gerrard appeal for a penalty.
The second one was a penalty in my opinion. That said, Gerrard does have a habit of going down easily in the box from a foul.
