Every other player doesn't come out with **** like this though :-Originally posted by Sarb24 View PostSome people are ridiculous. This thread is a joke. Yeah Gerrard dives but so does every other player in football
Steven Gerrard - "I don't think there's anything worse than a player diving when no one's been anywhere near him. It does ruin the game. If I saw a team-mate doing it, I would definitely have a word" (The Daily Mail, April 1st 2006)

I think your comment is fair but that something should only be called a dive (and this may well be implicit in your answer) if the player is seeking an advantage. If they are merely trying to avoid being battered then even if they aren't hit at all it shouldn't IMO necessarily be classed a dive.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostWho says? You?
A dive is a dive whether there's contact or not. A dive is when a player voluntarily hits the deck, when a player actively chooses to go to the ground - contact or no contact.
Minimal contact does not make it okay to "exaggerate" and go down like you've been shot.
Your comments smack of someone who hasn't played much, if any football.
It's a contact sport and contact doth not a foul make. End of."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

ok "a spade is a spade" and gerard didn't dive. it was a clear cut pen. friedel went through gerards standing foot. whether or not gerard threw his right leg into friedel is, quite frankly, a side issue as friedel DEFINATELY took gerards standing foot.Originally posted by ufc43 View PostYour right, Gerard cleverly put his foot on Friedel (as he was going by in an attempt to win a peno). I don't know if you have ever played football, but this is done to deceive refs into thinking the defending player made the contact. Its a trick that has been used over and over again in the premiership. It was a clear dive. wasn't
The second one was a free kick as there was clear contact from the defender on Gerard. This could also have resulted in a red card as Gerard was denied a goal scoring opportunity.
I,m a Liverpool fan, but you have to call a spade a spade.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

The england dive is one of his best! ****ing shocking!Originally posted by Alan Key View PostIf Ronaldo had done what Gerrard did on Sunday, this board would have exploded. Same with Drogba. When gerrard does the same thing, there is a debate as to whether it is a dive.
A quick youtube:
Excuse me on this one, it's an awful watch, but two of them are terrible dives:
He dives, as do a lot of players, but he dives.
