    The Case FOR Hicks

Playing devils advocate i'd say Hick's has lot going for him we have wanted a chairman for ages who could provide/be the following:

    1) Hicks seems passionate enough about the club
    2) Is willing to offer his support to Rafa by extending his contract
    3) Looks like Rafa prefers him over George and Rick
    4) He allowed Rafa to sign Torres and Babel and is willing to strengthen further
    5) Is the mastermind behind the new stadium and is the main force pushing it forward, most agree it's better then the Parry Bowl
    6) He's got Rick Parry's number, and is willing to replace the incompetent sod
    7) Has people lined to take the club forward and try to catch the Mancs, Gooners and Chelsea.

OK the main downside Firstly is the borrowing of money and the club being saddled with debt, unfortunately i think this will happen anyway no matter who the owners are, well not unless you get an Abramovich type.

Secondly his big fat Texan gob, got to say with him everything is out in the open, unlike the sneaky Gillette and Parry (they were the ones that initiated the Klinsmann thing, he just told the truth that they had met).

    So what do you think?
    We come not to play.

I don't think his passion for the club is any more than as a high prestige investment and maybe as a general sports fan. I certainly wouldn't raise it as part of my defense of him.

The stadium is also a bit of a red herring at this stage as nothing has progressed in real terms except some expensive drawings.

The current regime has IMO done reasonably well in terms of transfer funding and the Rafa and Parry decisions from Hicks are sound. However both of those could be part of his battle with Gillet rather than genuinely motivated by sound reasoning.

I don't think we can say anything too positive at the minute but I think the hatred on forums like this one goes too far.

Good post mate. We'll just have to see. It's good being able to sit on a fence.

He is saying all the things we want to hear. He is not trustworthy and has done nothing but destabilise the club in the last year.

Just another PR exercise but for me it is too late - once you lose that trust it is gone forever.

Well at least he's ACTING. Not the same can be said of the other figures in this saga.

Exactly. We don't know if Gillette is lying or not because he is saying nowt.

He is the enemy of football. Glad though he pointed out how bad Parry was.

                      1) Hicks seems passionate enough about the club
                      That'll be the PR.
                      2) Is willing to offer his support to Rafa by extending his contract
On a rolling contract. Not exactly a ringing endorsement when Europe's elite are waiting in the wings.
                      3) Looks like Rafa prefers him over George and Rick
Or perhaps Rafa hates Hicks the least.
                      4) He allowed Rafa to sign Torres and Babel and is willing to strengthen further
How much credit does a man deserve for loaning money?
                      5) Is the mastermind behind the new stadium and is the main force pushing it forward, most agree it's better then the Parry Bowl
He is the mastermind behind some architect's drawings
                      6) He's got Rick Parry's number, and is willing to replace the incompetent sod
                      True
                      7) Has people lined to take the club forward and try to catch the Mancs, Gooners and Chelsea.
He has people lined up who are ready to nod their head and say "Yes Tom".
It's not good because it's rude. It's good because it looks like it's good because it's rude.

There isn't a case for Hicks. Guess some people are easily sucked in though.

That is generally what people do to their boss.

Or maybe some of us can step back and be a bit more objective, before demanding the guy be strung up and quartered.

                              I guess I'm lucky then.

My boss would rather know if I disagree with him.
