Not really, he'll just paint it as doing 'the right thing for the club' and 'persuing other interests', part of the deal will be that DIC tow his 'pride' line in public and he'll walk away a fair bit richer than when he started.

I keep saying it, but this is all just a horrible mess, and there's more bad guys involved in this story than just Tom Hicks.

I agree with Lec and having following the events these past months he has been trying to get minority investors, backing from banks which he hasnt got any from the US and England.

At the moment he is in the minority with regards to voting power among the board members hence he wants parry out so that his yes man Ian Ayre comes in and that takes the voting to 3-3.

He has lied before and what makes him to be trusted. In his PR interview with Skysports he mentioned that he will take away debt from the club? HOW he hasnt made any offer to GG yet buying his 50% share nor has he got any backing from any banks to lend him another 300m for the new stadium.

With the current cedit crunch thats hitting various economies its very difficult to get the loans and not to forget next year in June the current debt comes to re-finance.

Its not looking good for him and theres no way GG will sell his stake to Hicks.

Because it makes him look like the big powerful man he likes to portray himself as.

He's not found any other backers. Gillett wont sell to him. He doesnt have the funds. The 90 days will soon be up and Gillett looks like he wants out and wants to sell to DIC...

As Hicks claims, he intends to become majority shareholder of Liverpool (shudder) and head a group of minority shareholders. He may already have found willing investors.

But surely to meet the terms of any pre-emption clause, Hicks would need to secure the finance himself? Otherwise, what is the difference between Gillett selling to DIC or to Hicks' preferred investors?

If Hicks' only hope is a loan from Merril Lynch, I don't much fancy his chances.

Me too, and for exactly the reasons you mentioned.

BTW I think Merril Lynch have only been asked to canvas for minority investors. Don't think Hicks is looking for another loan.

I dont think he'll see it that way and ultimately, bearing in mind how he exists to make money at the expense of anything else, and the fact that he'll walk away with a huge profit, for not really doing anything, i dont think he'll consider himself to have looked foolish at all.
