£40m right there. Have we even had £20m worth of contribution from them?

Should we continue to believe that Rafa will produce the miracle CL form and maintain it for 38 games and win the title, or should we accept we are the best of the next group, the 45 000 fans a week group, with Spurs, Villa and Blue****e.

If Platinni gets his way and drops a CL spot, do we scrap for UEFA or carry on believing we are as big as the Mancs and will realistically challenge for the title.
I have been supporting Liverpool since 1969 and seen good times, bad times and tragedies. Yes our pedigree/history/culture strive for the best. Commercially we have been inept. In the 90's we were inept in the transfer market. Finally RAFA is clawing back the wasted years and making real progress.
It's not all about money, since Fergie became Manager of Manure in the 80's, he is the only manager in British football to have spent just short of a BILLION pounds on players, so it does help. Also Manure are the only football club in Europe, in top flight football (bearing in mind the corruption in Italy, Turkey, Greece and Germany) that have conceded just ONE penalty at home over a span of 11 years during the 90's early 2,000. So what price success/intimidation?
In 2005 when we won number 5, an article came out in the German Magazine "Kicker" stating that we had 18 million supporters world wide only bettered by Real Madrid and Barcelona. We still have the fan base and although I dislike Hicks greatly, he is right that we are not and haven't been maxixmising our brand where as Manure, Barcelona, AC Milan and Real Madrid have. Chelsea and Arsenal combined do not have half the fan base that we have world wide and herein lies the answer for a quick recovery back to where we belong, the construction of our new stadium cannot commence quickly enough.

Why are you so sure that if we would have spent that money on fewer more expensive players we would have done better?

To be fair though, Morientes and Kewell where considered by most to be good enough for any team, and Benayoun is still doing a good job for us.

What if it is Parry who stops Rafa getting the players he wants because he (Parry) thinks they are to expensive?

          1. Because top players generally make a good impact, whereas average players usually dont.

          2. Then Rafa shouldnt spend it on woeful nobodies instead and try to make do. To be fair, for the most part, Rafa's transfer record is decent.

I can see the logic of most of Rafa's purchases; even if I don't agree with all of them, without going into minute detail:

Morientes - perceived that we got a bargain
Bellamy - got him cheap, when we were skint, and made money on him
Kewell - looked like a bargain

I'm sure most if not all of his other signings could be classed similar; THIS summer we need to keep the strong squad and enhance certain positions with top quality

              1. But that would be few top players and then a few players less good then the ones Rafa went for. Keeping in mind this is a team sport (the Fiesta/Merc comment) why are you so sure?

              2. Rafa has spent very little money one "woeful nobodies"

houllier bought kewell, and actually had a pretty decent first season. Rafa showed faith in him and it was understandable why imo

                  1. Why am i so sure that top players normally make a good impact? Erm...well, because it's a fact.

                  2. Granted, as i said, rafa's transfer record is, for the most part, pretty decent.

I know who bought Harry. I was pointing out how we as a club, buy quantity over quality. Kewell and Morientes were *meant* to be quality but they havent been. So they count as quantity.

                      1. No, only a few players are gonna be better and others WORSE. So why would the team do better, with some players better and others WORSE.

Eh? Your question was how could i be sure that top players usually make a good impact...

Well, English is not my first language so I apologize. But now that you have my question?

Can you tell me how the match tomorrow will end? You have obviously a time machine to help you out so if it's not to much trouble then can you please use it so I can have a bet on the right result and the right Lotto numbers would be nice to.

                            Thank you
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

No need for apologies, your english is fine, i had no idea it wasnt your first language...that's a measure of how good it actually is.

I'm still not sure what question you're asking though mate.
