    Rafa on top form

Have you decided what formation you will use tomorrow?

I know, but I will keep that to myself because I know Avram Grant will hear.

Is Avram Grant under more pressure than you?

    I don't know, I think that's maybe a question for Avram Grant.

Are you planning to meet Tom Hicks when he is here?

I will try to meet Avram Grant on the pitch and after, if we can win, I will be really happy to see anyone.

    and finally on Gerrard's injury

"The other day, he wanted to play but he was only able to look to the right, so I told him he could play as a left winger! We'll see if he can turn his head round and look the other way now.

"We will talk together, with the doctor. The player will say he wants to play, but there's an easy way of finding out whether he's fit. I will come up and tap him on the left shoulder and if he turns to face me without any pain, we will know he can play."
"The definition of insanity is not running into the same wall again and again; it's expecting a different result every time you do it."

The veteran defender was withdrawn at half-time after a clash of heads which left him dizzy.

Benitez said: "We have a problem with Sami. He has a knock in the head. He was dizzy so I asked him if he'd seen the third goal! He just looked at me (with a confused look).

.......... and that's why he gets paid the big bucks!!
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

It was widely said that he was a funny guy and very witty. Good to see his personality coming through now he's more confident with his english.

Definitely seems a lot more relaxed / comfortable the last few days - hope the players are feeling it too

I wonder is it his position / standing within the club that makes him that more confident at the moment?

He's certainly behaving as if he knows for certain that he will be here next season. Maybe DIC have let his agent know that a) they are definitely buying Gillett's shares and b) they definitely want him to stay. Gillett's the only one who could conceivably want him out, Hicks and DIC have pledged their support.

Whatever, it's nice to see him confident and relaxed in the run-up to tonight's game!

I liked how when asked about Plesis he said that he's a good young player, he's been playing in the reserves champion team and he could speak french and thus would be able to communicate with the arsenal players.

Top quote from him on Sky too. Asked who Chelsea's key man was, he replied Roman Abrahmovich.

It is interesting how some of his comments have been written up in the build up to the game. Just the other day I saw a headline along the lines of Rafa slams Grant. When I read the full comments he had actually said that Chelsea had not changed a lot under Grant compared to Mourinho and that he had a lot of respect for Grant as a manager.

For people who underestimate the importance of Rafa as a manager need only take a look at the last 4 years.

In 2004 he left a side who had won their second league title in 3 seasons to go to a team that was in free fall.

Four years later the team he took over is fighting to reach it's 3rd European cup final under his guidance and the team he left behind is struggling to avoid relegation.
