Of course he does dude, I'm not saying people aren't entitled to be angry or give him some stick, but people questioning whether he gives a **** at all or saying he's more concerned with getting Fat Fwank's shirt after the game?Originally posted by Matt View PostHe gets paid enough to take it on the chin. No one's round his house putting his windows through.
The reality is he ****ed up and theres a decent chance we'll get knocked out because of it. I'm sure he will be gutted but people are entitled to be angry and vent, call it one of the few negative aspects of being a professional footballer.
Just trying to add a bit of balance. Fact is that people have been unhappy with Riise's form for several years now, and especially this season, so when he ****s up so massively he's all the easier target, as would a Kuyt have been, or a Pennant etc in the same circumstance. But while he wears the red shirt, and with the career he's had at Anfield, I do think he deserves a little more basic respect than some people's comment's tonight have allowed. That's all.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

I am still trying to think of a recent time when JAR has come up trumps and done the business....im willing to hear when I might have missed something thoughOriginally posted by Fierce View PostHey Harvey
I've played football at various levels, probably higher than most on here. I dont think what Riise did was as horrendous as people make out.
Look at when the ball first dropped, it was a good 4/5 yards in front of him. If he'd have gone for it with his (weak) right foot, there's a good chance it would have bounced too high for him to clear, and given how close Anelka was, that would be incredibly risky. Instead, Riise went for it with his head which whilst is more difficult than hitting it with his (weaker) right foot, is more forgiving should the ball not bounce as high as it actually did
I think that it was a good decision Riise made, he opted for safety given the unpredictability of the bounce
Not defending him per se, he cost us the game. But I honestly and genuinely dont think he deserves such vitriol, although its understandable given our performance and the timing of their goal
Imagine how the dressing room was afterwards tho....Wouldnt want to be JAR for all the $$ in the world
Hes been ****in useless for the last year at least. Im a bit hammered but **** of Risse - youve been dragged along by a better team at least the last few years and its time to go. Not just because of one mistake as if Jamie had of done that we could justify the times hed saved us. JAR is done at LFC as far as im concerned hes done nothing positive recently
'Edited' as he does have the chance to redeem himself in the second round with arbeloa apparently done. Put a Fin rockent in tho - no corner flag shots...(Ill stop there)Last edited by stuartb; 23-04-08, 01:01 AM.

Let's just say he didn't Riise to the occasion.
The guy is a muppet. Going in with his head was moronic, idiotic and suicidal. No one will convince me otherwise. I agree that there is no way we should have allowed the cross in, but that was stupid from Riise. The man is a liability and has no business playing more than 5 mins in a red shirt in a game of this magnitude.
In the same way Arsenal ceded the initiative to us with the 1-1 at the Emirates, we too have been dealt a massive (self-inflicted) psychological blow with conceding in such sickening circumstances. It will take a big turnaround to get us through. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

Is the right answer.Originally posted by Johnny View PostBest thing to do when you fall of a horse is get back on again.I`d play risse from the start next week,he`ll be the hungriest player on the pitch
He had to deal with it and went with his head, bad luck. It was a good croos and Anelka was behind him, waiting to capitalise. Hope he plays next week and scores the goal that destroys Chelsea.
Having a go at guy who has scored so many goals for us is dissapointing.
I am still confident we can do it. 1-0, 1-1 then pens or 2-2 will do it. We have played them 3 times this season and deserved to win all of them. We will knock Chelsea out.
Can't wait for next week!

I don't blame ginge...
It was a clear lack of professionalism by the whole team. In injury time we should be time wasting to hold onto a good 1-0 victory at home in the CL semi finals. Stop pumping the ball into the box, bring men back, keep our discipline.
If we had wasted a few minutes before that final minute then the whole situation would never had happened. The players (and fans) got greedy wanting to 'finish' the tie in one game.

Don't agree we should play Riise next week. Never mind the goal or the fact that he will be riled up. His overall positioning and play before the goal brought Chelsea back into the game. Also thought Bennyoun was poor when he came on. Gave the ball away a lot and was too lightweight. We need to play the same team except for the back four which should be
Finnan, Carra, Skyrtl, Arbeloa.
and attack them!
Riise should be put out to pasture now.

It was a bread and butter clearance for a defender I don't care what anyone says. He tried a spectacular clearance instead of just blocking the cross with his right foot and direcring it back where it came from. schoolboy stuff. I respect JAR for all his years of sevice and some memorable goals along the way but he has been sub standard for a long time now. A half fit aurelio is a better player by a cuntry mile. If we are to evolve as a team we need better players that JAR. He made a costly mistake last night but it's done now and all we can do is learn from it i.e Rafa dont play JAR in next weeks return lg. Arbeloa or Finna can do a better job at LB if aurelio is unfit.Dare we believe

He is a poor player, and tonight was another example of his ineptitude. He has scored 2 goals against Liverpool this season, and I can't really remember him doing much else.
His woeful one-footedness has been exposed in the cruellest of fashions. He's ****. I feel sorry for him, but he's still ****. Absolutely gutted. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
