Thanjk you.

I tell you what, Syd's right about one thing: this thread has got the campest title ever.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
Not 100% conversion to the Cult of Kuyt yet, but things are looking rosier, 3 months ago there was about 3 of us saying to keep Dirk next season now i reckon its 70%, never before have so many been so wrong and nearly admitted it...
I fully admit it, but as I've said before, I dont think it did either him or the team any good not resting him & playing Crouchie when he was really struggling at the beginning of the season.

His goals in the CL have been absolutely vital, no doubt, but Kuyt's regular place in the team is one of the many reasons we've failed in the league again.
He's started the majority of games - most often up front (he's only played on the right regularly since about February) - and scored a pathetic three league goals. Two pens and a fluke. He's made 30 Premiership appearances (22 starts) and troubled the scorers in TWO games. That's 28 appearances in which he hasn't scored.
That's nowhere near good enough for someone who's played either up front on the right as one of the 'front four'.
I don't want to detract from what was another good performance, on a night when I felt more love for Dirk than I ever have (okay, level-pegging with Arsenal at home), but let's not let a recent revival get in the way of the full story and the facts.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
Not to say that goals is everything, cos they're not (quite).
Apart from simply not being good enough, Pennant's greatest failing is a chronic lack of goals (and goal threat). Kuyt is a better option for us than Jermaine but ultimately he is handicapped by his lack of goals and goal threat.
I like him as a squad option but IMO we'll never win the league with him starting upwards of 30 games a season.

Spot on with both posts Shaggy.
Kuyt is a great option to have in our squad if we continue playing 4-2-3-1 but he lacks the goal threat, speed, mobility and technique to be a key component of a title winning side. As you said he has been brilliant for us in Europe and scored some crucial goals but three leagues goals all season is nowhere near good enough for an attacking player.

Spot on.
I'd love Kuyt to do good for us because his attitude is spot on. A team of Carras or Kuyts in terms of attitude would be immense. But playing ability wise Kuyt falls way off.
We need more to challenge for the title, that is for certain. That said, bar the Man Utd result we haven't done to bad of late and that's with Kuyt on the right.
