Pepe Reina has confirmed that he would be likely to leave Liverpool if Rafa Benitez quit the club in the summer.


Speaking to The Guardian, Reina explained that he "couldn't imagine being at Liverpool without Rafael Benítez."


The Spanish goalkeeper was brought to Anfield by his compatriot and has warned that he would have no qualms in following Benitez to another destination.


"My contract is with Liverpool but, if the coach moves and there is the possibility of me joining him, if he coaches another team, of course I would think about that."


Benitez's long-term future at Anfield remains in doubt, with the club's ownership squabble still yet to be settled.

Top keepers are few and far between. Tha Mancs and Arsenal have had problems for years. Would be a massive loss to us and only an idiot thinks he could be easily replaced.

Pepe has that irritating Dudek-style habit of saving his worst displays for Manure. One of the best keepers around though - certainly can't think of a realistic/adequate replacement.

Whilst I commend him for backing Rafa, I am disappointed in his lack of committment to the club. I always got the impression he was passionate about LFC and envisaged him being here for a long time with or without Rafa.

Pepe is one of the best going around. All keepers make mistakes, and he has had some howlers, but he always bounces back.

Good keeper,more than a handful of keepers equal or better than him available though IMO.

People saying they'd not be too disappointed if Pepe left, perhaps they can recommend a realistic alternative. I have in mind probably 2-3 keepers who are better than him, but none of them are acquirable. Losing him would be a disaster in my book.

I could recommend quite a few alternatives as my opinion on Pepe isn't as high as most on here, which is why I'll decline that invitation as I'm not in the mood to spend all day on another Reina thread!

i cant even think of one!!

he is the best penalty saver in the world and also starts off more attacks than any keeper i have since schmeicel.

there maybe better shot stoppers, better on crosses, but overall he is a top, top keepr and would be almost impossible to replace.
