    Respect

Watching Goals on Sunday and reminiscing about Maschers sending off recently.

Fondly remembering Fergusons comments about respect and how his players don't surround ref's etc etc blah.

The number of times Manyoo's players intimidated (or attempted to) both the ref and linesmen is a disgrace. Why isn't it mentioned? Fugly Rio with veins popping out of his head right in the ref's face.
I thought at one point Silvestre was going to **** Wiley at one point.

    That's the one...

It really is ridiculous how much the FA and referees act on these issues only when they are in the media spotlight. It would be good if one of the papers started a league table of which teams are worst at it to keep pressure on the powers that be over a longer period of time.

What Mascher did has been seen week in week out since with little if any action taken. Considering the ludicrous slating he took in the press at the time the way they have behaved has (perhaps unsurprisingly) been much worse than anything Mascher did IMO. I would in fact say the same thing about the reaction to the original Ashley Coles incident. It appears footballers only have to be role models in slow news weeks.

What got me was Slur Rednose complained the penalty was given by the linesman not the ref!
I always thought the linesman was there to help the ref make decisions he couldn't see, Oh well you live and learn!

The title 'assistant referee' would imply as much. You would think it would be uncontroversial that the trained, independent witness in the best position to see should have the biggest influence on the decision wouldn't you?

He's a disgrace. A terrible loser, he manipulates everyone around him and has received a knighthood for his troubles? **** him.

Oh how I enjoyed watching him rant....

One rule for Man U another for everyone else. They shout and abuse a ref all the time but nothing happens. Torres and Mascher got booked for practically little dissent in that game.

Ridiculous but it's the way it's been for years

Did you see Hargreaves? Was in the process of getting booked constantly mouthing off, gets a yellow card, carries on and tells the ref to **** off. ****ing joke

It was a bit unfair. If a miserly linesman can give Chelsea a penalty, surely the 4th official, Mike (I hate United) Riley should be able to give United at least one or two?
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

The only reason i'm personally so bothered by it in this instance, is because of the stance fergie took. The utter bull**** he was coming out with and the lies he told in painting his players as whiter than white. It upsets me further that it's ignored by the press and everyone else.

I'd also love to hear his comments on Evra's behaviour towards the chelsea groundstaff.

I loved his reasoning for it not being a penalty:

                          1. It wasn't a deliberate handball, besides Rio Ferdinand was behind him the whole time.

SO?!!? It doesn't have to deliberate, at the end of the day...a handball in the box is an unfair advantage and as such should be punished. Plus, it was clearly deliberate, he had ample time to get his hand out of the way.

                          2. Linesmen shouldn't have the authority to give that kind of decision.

Isn't that their job?!? Someone should tell him that they're Assistant Referees now, and have been for about 10 years, they're there to assist the referee and give decisions that the Ref's too far away to see.

                          3. It was too big a match to give that sort of decision.

This is the most pathetic excuse of the lot in my book, since when has being a 'Big' match had anything to do with refereeing decisions? He's a joke...it doesn't matter whether it's a premiership title decider or a mid table clash in League 2, that would still have been given as a penalty.

                          Get over it Slur Alex.
