It really is ridiculous how much the FA and referees act on these issues only when they are in the media spotlight. It would be good if one of the papers started a league table of which teams are worst at it to keep pressure on the powers that be over a longer period of time.

What Mascher did has been seen week in week out since with little if any action taken. Considering the ludicrous slating he took in the press at the time the way they have behaved has (perhaps unsurprisingly) been much worse than anything Mascher did IMO. I would in fact say the same thing about the reaction to the original Ashley Coles incident. It appears footballers only have to be role models in slow news weeks.

The trouble is that no one really takes Alan Green seriously as he is a/ a gob****e and b/ firmly believed to be a Liverpool fan by the supporters of the other big teams. There needs to be a much wider and more respected set of people consistently bringing the subject up (or alternatively something really high profiles like MOTD making a real point of exposing things - never going to happen mind).

Its about time television stations employs partial commentators or analysts. We see the same rubbish tabloid journalists with lazy reductionist arguments who have narrow minded views regarding the weeks issues. Lou Macari on SSN, a Manchester United legend in his own right, had it spot on. He talked about Ferdinand and Hargreaves constant sniping at the referee yet this VT was only 15 seconds long at most and in between Chris Kamara's analysis of the CCTV footage of that 'warm down' and some rubbish FA statement.

Watching Goals on Sunday and reminiscing about Maschers sending off recently.

Fondly remembering Fergusons comments about respect and how his players don't surround ref's etc etc blah.

The number of times Manyoo's players intimidated (or attempted to) both the ref and linesmen is a disgrace. Why isn't it mentioned? Fugly Rio with veins popping out of his head right in the ref's face.

I wish i could agree. IMO there has been 2 rule books for far too long. He's not deluded, he just cannot understand why they used the proper rule book in a game involving Manu and not the 'special edition' that is normally used in their games.

I inserted that caveat for legal reasons. In case fergie thought I was suggesting I meant on more than one occasion and tried to throw the rule book at me. Whether it would have been his rule book or everyone elses is up for discussion.
