The problem was at the time he effectively had to rip the whole squad up and start again so he had to get alot of players with a limited budget, which in fairness he did and most of the players he signed were better than the ones we had when he took over.

The squad we have now is definately MUCH stronger than the one we had when Houllier left. For the first time really we have a decent squad that only needs a few additions rather than major overhaul. This summer and next season I feel will be the one that defines Rafa IMO
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

After all, we hired Rafa because he did just that at Valencia. No?

Sadly it does not appear as if he is capable of transferring that to Premiership, mainly because teams here are not as soft-centered as Real Madrid and Barcleona have an alarming capability to be at times.
I think everyone just needs to chill out I find a glass (or 6) of nice red wine works a treat.

Different team, different time, different players & ablities I don't think you can compare.

Back Rafa & everyone will be happy... I think before it has been called blind faith - I don't care Rafa is the gaffa!

        Cheers

Restricted in what sense? In the sense that there was actually a limit of sorts? Thats the same for all managers, fact is that he's spent (net) just approx £15/16M less than Ferguson since he took over. Not a huge amount.

Rafa has spent too much building a squad when he should've brought in class first and added squad players afterwards.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

            Are you Hicks?

            Give him one more season?

Sorry, yup, he's brought ****e players, but name me one manager who hasn't?

But getting rid, when he's definately changed the fortunes around of our great club, then I'm sorry, we shouldn't give him a time span, let him leave when he wants to, not dead line it.

              agreed

but it would be hard not to have improved on the squad houllier left after 4 seasons and a significant transfer budget

Until the last summer, Rafa's been buying in the basement bargains, or haven't you been around?

Alonso and Agger have been jems, but please, the mancs, when they realised Scholes, Giggs etc where getting past it, spent 50 million on new players, in one transfer window.
When did we ever do that?

So Shanks didn't quite then, we sacked him?

                    Right?

You can't build a squad like that IMO when the squad needed overhauling and you need ~8 new players you can't blow your season's transfer budget on one or two quality players as it's unlikely top players would have joined to play with Biscan, Diao and Traore etc. Even if they did sign injuries to them and you're back where you started.

i never took shanks to be a quite man, especially with all the quotes he seems to have

we didn't sack shanks but then we've sacked very few managers in our time.

rafa will have next season to compete. if he fails he'll be gone. u believe what u want

Get rid of the deadwood that he's bought do you mean?
There was a case for that when it was Houlliers team, its not now, its his.

So he gets more money to spunk on squad fillers rather than 1 or 2 top quality players.

He should get one more season, if only down to the **** thats been going on in the boardroom which has affected everybody.

If we dont challenge next season, then he's got to go.
If you've lost your faith in love and music the end won't be long

If he went to Hicks or DIC asking for players like Valencia then he should go in the Summer. Don't need squad players anymore

                                Two Full backs

                                Are a minimum.

                                Wouldn't mind a number 10 as well.
